This place is really bad.. its unbelieveable how bad it is. I have been a few times before only for the bihari kebab, being the only restaurant that does it, the rest of the food is average. Recently I went in Ramadan, and the food was so so so so so spicy, that my whole family including myself suffered severe stomach pains and burning and were very ill. We though given its Ramadan, maybe the poor chefs are tired and messed up so we will give it another chance. We went again, and again the food was so spicy, that we left it all, wasted all the money, and grabbed KFC on the way back. What a waste of money it was. The manager is ultra rude and refuses to accept any criticism, claiming people come from Manchester to eat the food. I would question, why would you come all the way from there to eat sub standard over spicy food? I am from Pakistan and having lived there for 18 years of my life, would say that the level of spice in the food is lethal.. and will get you ulcers and will most definitely make you ill. I would advise you not to go there and waste your money or your health.
I’d been meaning to go to this restaurant for a while; it looked great from the outside and offered Pakistani cuisine which was a nice change from Brick Lane.
Upon entering the restaurant I thought it lived up to what I had expected, the decor was minimalistic but still warm with the cooper and cream tones offset with dark wood.
We were seated promptly and as it is the month of Ramadan was given complementary lassi and a few savoury cakes, which was a nice touch, because of this we went straight to mains with our orders.
Then it was all downhill from there on, the mains took an hour and 15 minutes to come and were tasteless, the waiter couldn’t remember who had ordered what.
After eating the bland main the restaurant seemed to have a number of tables really upset with either late cheques being presented or not having received their food, a table of six threaten to walk but were reassured that they would be next, it seemed that there was one waiter working the whole top floor, he even came up to our table and noted that the management were poor and didn’t know what they we doing!
The ‘head’ waiter spent the whole night shouting at the one waiter and the kitchen staff when it was clearly apparent that the workload was just too much.
The tables are too close together I found myself being nudge practically every few moments because of the large table of 20 or so adults and children immediate behind my seat, I eventually got so fed up and pushed my entire table forward to be told to move it back because of the kitchen.
The acoustics of the restaurants is awful you spend most of the night shouting rather than talking you can’t hear a thing, we decided on desert and coffee but then realised it would probably take another hour so decided to pop to the next restaurant down the street.
Our cheque took so long to come that we along with another table went to the till to pay, where w
SUMMARY:+ve: Very good main dishes, chops and chicken and excellent biryani
-ve: Worst service ever, portion sizes, seekh kebab
We ordered the mixed grill for starters, the lamb chops were delicious and the chicken was very succulent (better than Tayyabs) - however the Seekh Kebabs were a complete joke looking like twigs and probably not tasting much different from that.
When the main courses came the waiter put them on the table and when asked which dishes were which so we could pass them onto the correctly, he didn't have a clue and couldn't recognise anything.
His response was to call for the waiter who took our order. When he finally came over, he asked us for our table number - despite having no table numbers displayed anywhere and not ever being told it.
We told him this while he was digging out the receipts in his pocket with all the orders. The extraordinary talents of our waiter came to fruition when we told him that the Haleem hadn't arrived.
He was apologetic and offered to get it re-ordered - but by this time we wanted to spend as little at this shoddy organisation and just get out ASAP.
To add to this, a bit later we noticed he'd forgotten to order another dish - and instead of these two missing dishes, we were given to random chicken dishes instead.
Later on, we heard another group on the other side threaten not to pay due to the service they were getting, and notably highlighting his missing Haleem also - hmmmmmmm.....
The Bundhu Khan Specials were very overrated - and so were their prices. The Bihar bhoti required a chainsaw to cut and were probably supplied by Wrigley's.
The Parathas were nice - but not for £2 each!! The Lamb Biryani was excellent and the best I've had eating out in years - it was real lamb (not mutton) and was sublime.
For any Biryani Connoisseurs here, it should really be called Lamb Pilau Biryani. Genera
