Good food and service but like previous reviewer was made to feel uncomfortable by the anti Israel leaflets and posters on the wall. As a Jewish woman this made me feel unwelcome. The cafe owners is entitled to his views but as a businessman he should think about his customers and how they might feel if they happen to be Jewish or Israeli. By all means put a few leafets out but the "boycott Israeli goods", "no Israeli ingredients used here" and various posters on the same theme was a bit much.

It's a shame because I am bringing some of my Discovering London groups to the area over the next few weeks (I'm a tour guide) and would like to recommend this cafe but don't feel I can, specially as some of my clients are Jewish.

I am sure that there are other cafe owners around who might feel the same way about Israel but they wouldn't post up such notices. For example, you don't see this in and around Brick Lane where many of the restaurants are Muslim owned.

So a four star review becomes a two star review I'm afraid!

If you don't mind sitting surrounded by anti-Israeli graffiti and official signs from the restaurant declaring they will buy no products FROM Israel, then you might not mind the pretentious atmosphere, so-so food, high prices and poor service. We saw it had closed for a while and hoped it would re-open under entirely new management. This place is to be avoided. We were so offended by being bombarded by anti-Semitic slogans we left vowing never to come back. Go to Nouvella Spice if you want a great meal in a sweet and calm atmosphere--it's just down the block on New Cross Street.
