I had been to Cafe du Jardin before and had a good after theatre meal with my husband so I returned this time with my Mum and two children. On entering the doorman was really friendly and hospitable, however, this is where the attention to service ended. Our male waiter was unfriendly and unaccommodating, although I understand that not everyone's special requests can be met, is it too much to ask for a smaller size piece of steak for a child? My Mum ordered a steak and was told she had to have it cooked how the chef did it rather than how she liked it which was medium to well done. When it came it was running with blood.

I have never been to a restaurant where the kitchen dictates how you are to eat your meat, surely, as a paying customer this is a matter of preference. Having said this the rest of the food at Cafe du Jardin was excellent but the manner of the staff was terrible!

I found Cafe du Jardin's blend of European and Thai very interesting, it's not something that I've had anywhere else. I'm not sure that Cafe du Jardin got it entirely right but bravo for trying!
