I LOVE this restaurant and have been a regular for many years as have freinds and family. The menu has a lot to offer, the food is very well prepared and service is friendly. I believe the poor reviewers are perhaps overly negative and not very familiar with great value for money. I would rate this 4 but only because the decor could be updated apart from that highly recommended!

I would agree with maybe two stars - mostly for the decor. It is a disappointment to my husband and me that their food isn't better, as the ambiance and decor are charming. We have tried it three times, and even took friends there, since it looks inviting on a cold night with the fireplace going, and on a warm night with their nice patio.

However, unfortunately, the food is simply badly prepared and not a good value for their prices. For example, the tomato sauce on the pasta is just as though straight out of a jar. Our last dinner there my husband found that his drink seemed watered down.

However, for a glass of wine and a starter, it does have the ambiance. They don't seem to mess up the wine, anyway...

The badly cooked burgers was bad but the management follow up to our complaint was worse. Pity, I used to love this restaurant and have been going there for years.

Response to my complaint of 13.6.2008:
I received a letter today from Cafe Med today 28th Aug with a nice offer of a free meal to make up for the poor meal we had so they are forgiven.

The biggest pity is that you don't seem to understand the concept of chargrilled.

You're the type of a cheapskate customer that will always ruin their experience to knock a couple of quid of the bill.

Oh and as for the managment they are always on top of things. I live virtually 2 minutes away from cafe med and have made it like my second home.

In extremely rare cases when something does go wrong it is fixed in seconds. The food is always great and the staff and managment very warm and friendly.

Shame on you for throwing undeserved dirt on this great local family restaurant.

If you hate it so much just don't go there and leave cafe med to those of us who enjoy our experience.

It took about 40 minutes to get the first course at Cafe Med. Another long wait for the main course which was cold, plus they charge £1.00 cover charge and 12.5% for service. I will not return to Cafe Med.
