One of my fav restaurants in Brick Lane. Never disappoints.
Excellent Food & service; the best in Bricklane. will definately come back. Thank you
AVOID- we ordered takeaway, when we got back to the office discovered that they'd not included the most expensive dish, despite the fact we had paid for it, they point blank refused to refund the money telling us that we were liars, even when threatened with the police, it's outrageous... I'll be reporting them to the police
We really enjoyed the food. although this site says its a cafe, its actually a restaurant serving indian food. we really enjoyed the ambience, attentive service and delicioius food. the branch specialities were an excellent treat.
Excellent Food, Service & Atmosphere. we were well looked after and they were courteous, not pushy and attentive.
we loved the free appetizers when we arrived and the chef's complimentary in between the starter and the mains and of course the free ice cream at the end of the meal.
Definitely will come back and recommend.
Decided to pop into Cafe Naz (Brick Lane) on my way home yesterday. I had earlier in the week sampled their lunch buffet which was excellent. I ordered a lamb curry, sag aloo and pilau rice, topped up with a Bangla beer. I was offered and excepted a popadom with relishes to start with. The restaurant was fairly busy and I waited some time for the beer although the popadom arrived almost immediately. The main dish also took some time to come and one of the staff did apologise for the delay. When the food did finally arrive it was overcooked, the flavour of the two dishes had got that 'kept in the oven too long' taste. I could not finish the meal and asked for the bill. Imagine my shock on receiving a bill for £29.70!! This was outrageous when taking account of the poor service, very poor food quality and that a delicious Lamb curry with Pilau rice can be found in the local sit down cafe's at the east end of Fieldgate Street for £5. I will certainly not be dining there again!
Went there last friday, well what can I say, the food was amazing. We usually go to the shriaz. I don't think i'll go anywhere else on Brick Lane again. The food was that good. The service was not bad either, the waiters actually speak english and the food came quickly.
They also gave us a beer each on the house - thats the festive spirit!
I can't recommend this more to anyone, the food is so so good. I would recommend booking before hand as we had to wait 10mins for a table.
Our experience was exactly the opposite of most of the previous reviews. Went there for a Sunday buffet.
It was very empty, but there was loads of food, it was hot tasty and the staff were responsive (but had little else to do). I guess we were luck and had we chosen a Saturday night, might not have been the same, but we speak as we found, and what we found on Sunday lunch was the upper end of curry buffet land.
Oh my this place is shockingly bad. Went there for "a change" from our favourite curry house on Brick Lane, and what a mistake. Their all you can eat buffet should be taken as a challenge to eat ANYTHING rather than eat EVERYTHING!! Lamb (i think) Curry had more bones and onion than anything else, the rest of it was unidentifiable mush, and the Chips (yes, you know, that well known Indian dish!) were stone cold.My girlfriend almost cried it was that bad. When paying for the "meal" the overcharged us, then didnt have any change for us and expected it as a tip - no chance!!If your in Brick Lane, go to the Clifton for a decent meal, but forget Cafe Naz...
I went to Cafe Naz with my boyfriend after the pub. The food took ages in coming and when I went to pay, the staff had great difficulty in getting the right amount to come up on the chip and pin machine.
I work in a restaurant and I am familiar with that model of chip and pin and it very difficult to get wrong. My whole bill was doubled, and after I pointed it out, the waiter said in an irritated voice "Well how much do you want to pay?" to which I replied "The amount my bill is!"
It all went through fine and as I left he sheepishly apologised but neither I nor my boyfriend will ever go there again.
I went to Cafe Naz on a Wednesday night at 8 o'clock with a few girlfriends. We were in the area and wanted to try something different.
The place was packed and we eventually were found a table under the huge screen at the back of the restaurant near the kitchen.
Although the staff were friendly, the place was hugely understaffed and we had to wait 45 minutes for our main course to arrive and it was of mediocre standard.
We had to ask the staff 4 times what was going on with our order and received the same reply - 'its coming'.
I would not go there again as there are planty of other restaurants on Brick Lane which offer better service. The staff were aware how we felt and gave us a small dessert free of charge but this no way made up for our wasted time and general feeling of disappointment.
I booked a table for two as a treat for my girlfriend's birthday. The Cafe Naz website completely sold the restaurant to us as it was highly professional and the venue itself looked immaculate and comtemporary.
However, unfortunately this was not the case when we arrived. The decor was mediocre, the food sub-standard and luke warm (!), and the service well below average.
We normally dine in and around Southall where the service is of a high standard and we don't have to pay extra for salad and chutney!
To sum up, over rated with below average food and service.
