The ViewLondon Review
Well located on High Street Kensington, close to its many designer clothes shops, Cafe Pasta is an Italian chain serving a little bit more than just pizza and salad.
The Venue
Cafe Pasta is a glass-fronted building that opens up in the summer in an attempt to provide al fresco dining. The restaurant itself is light, airy and spacious with abstract paintings on the walls.
The Atmosphere
Cafe Pasta is fairly quiet during the day and the management is willing to let people order just a cup of tea in the afternoon. However, in the evening it is very busy with a mix of locals and tourists as well as people coming in after frequenting the nearby cinema. The only problem is it can get a little hectic, and the service is not that good. On a Saturday night it can take ages to get the attention of the waitress.
The Food
The food at Cafe Pasta is not exactly authentic Italian cuisine at its best, but there are some tasty dishes including the seafood linguine. Starters include platters of cooked meats, rocket salad and goats cheese. For dessert you can have ice cream, but otherwise the choice is not particularly Italian with options such as banoffee pie, cheesecake and apple crumble to name but a few.
The Drink
Wines are available by the glass, and the chardonnay and pinot grigio are both perfectly acceptable and go well with the food.
The Last Word
If you're in the area and are tired after shopping, this is a good value place to collapse, catch up with your friends and enjoy a bowl of pasta, but don't expect anything too sophisticated.
