I went to Cafe Raj last night for a birthday dinner with nine friends and we had a great time. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and brought us all a free shot at the end of our meal. I really like Cafe Raj and I'm looking forward to going back.
I'm not sure where to start, other than dont, ever, go there.
We went in there around 10.30pm. A long story short, ordered food for 4 of us, starters arrived, one of our party nipped to the loo, came back explained there was human waste all over the 'bathroom', we collectively decided we no longer wanted to eat there for fear of our health, we hadnt touched the starters, we cancelled the order for the rest explaining the situation, offered to pay for starters, they wanted full payment for food we had not yet received.
Numerous youths appeared from the 'back room', they wouldn't let us leave and threatened us until we paid.
If you want a fight with a load of asbo scum from the back room of a dilapidated dirty curry house, hop along to Raj Cafe any night you care, if you want a good curry on brick lane, go elsewhere.
I will clearly, never return, i would have given zero stars but cant figure out how. Avoid like a kick to the balls.
Cafe Raj is one of the best value for money visits I've had to Brick Lane in a long time, but more importantly, the food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the King Prawn Ureebisi Gatta - a true Bangladeshi dish. The service was also very good and the smart decor added to the great eating experience - I thoroughly recommended Cafe Raj.
I thought Cafe Raj was excellent. After getting hustled in off the street we sat down to one of the best curries ever! The food at Cafe Raj was fantastic and very cheap. The staff were also friendly and helpful and we even got a free drink!
Cafe Raj is a very poor restaurant. Food was blatantly microwaved from cold and was very bland. They didn't give us the offer they said they would on the bill. Cafe Raj is an expensive waste of time, and could have bought better from Tesco.
