I've been a regular at Canyon for a number of years, and my most recent visit re-affirmed my thoughts on the restaurant - it isn't what it used to be. Dishes have dropped a level in quality and drinks are comically overpriced. Hopefully the owners will bring Canyon back to its best and match the location, which is breath-taking.

The setting is superb, but on a warm evening the service at Canyon if attentive, was also incompetent. Firstly the wrong wine was served at the wrong temperature, then we had to ask three times for water - and then the food.

My starter at Canyon relied entirely on prodigious quanitites of sea salt for its flavour. The main course of salmon and risotto - even if it had been brought to the table when still warm it would have been bland and unimaginitive. However, it seemed to have been standing for a while and was congealed and totally unappetising.



It's such a shame that Canyon relies so totally on its wonderful location. It is expensive too, and the location alone does not justify these high prices.

Canyon is just around the road from where we live. It is a fantastic pub with excellent food. The breakfasts are a great way to recover from a hang over. Canyon also does some good home made pies.
