Just had dinner in Carluccios St johns wood.

if i was the owner i would be really embarrassed. i have never seen a waiter work his socks off .

such a lovely man working like crazy. it appears from the outside that Carluccios are cost cutting and reducing the staff and it shows.

everything took ages to come, but the waiter was running round like a headless chicken.

This is not what you go to Carluccios for. My seabass was adequate, absolutely nothing to write home about, and will not be chosen again.

Choc icecream desert and mozzarella starter was really good though. Oh, and why with the threat of swine flu, is the salt out in a dish to handle with fingers??

I went yesterday evening with four friends to Carluccios Caffe. It has a rather (too) brightly lit and clean looking decor. The service is very polite and like many Italian restaurants seems a little rushed and might have been a little more relaxed.

We had a selection of starters and all were as expected and very good. The main courses were also good with plenty of vegetables cooked al dente as I like them. The only slight criticism was that one of us thought the bread rolls were rather doughy and had been frozen.

The sweets were all good too with the pineapple sorbet in half a pineapple being the most spectacular. We all had the £20.50 three course set meal selected from the al a carte menu. Service at Carluccios Caffe was added at 12.5 percent. The wines ranged from £13.00 to £160 per bottle so we had the house red which was very light but quite pleasant.

The bill came to about £29.00 each including service which we all thought was quite reasonable for a restaurant in an expensive area.

My father and I visited this Carluccios in the summer after a day watching Middlesex and it was amazing! It wasn't quite as good this time but I would still recommend it - it's definitely one of the better Carluccios around and the setting is gorgeous.
