Super friendly service, really good food, beer and wine. Not expensive. You must eat and drink there! A good choice definitely! Many greetings from Graz / Austria

This is an horrible place to dine and I would not recommend it to my worse enemies! I was expecting a bit more for a restaurant place at the surroundings of King Cross Station. The service was appalling and the food what can say. Well not much as I had waited one hour it for it and never arrive and on the top of that I was given tap water instead of mineral water. I never been treated so badly in the restaurant as the employers as well as the manager were rude so who turn to in this case when management do not lead by example. Well well. Definitely classify within my London bottom 5% worst restaurant.

Had a great lunch here yesterday - all six of us were more than satisfied with our different choices. Not gourmet but good tasty food at a very reasonable price. The waiters were charming - attentive without being intrusive.

Horrible food! I ordered Risotto with Zucchini + Scampi:- the so-called risotto was cooked with ordinary rice, not proper arborio rice- it was watery and completely and utterly tasteless - no hint of butter or any kind of seasoning- the 'scampi' turned out to be 3 or 4 seemingly frozen prawns! My complaint to the waiter was ignored. When I explained that I expected a reduction in the bill, the waiters huddled in a corner for a while before informing us that this was not possible because the manager was out and they had no authority to reduce the bill. We paid the bill but left no tip and will not return ever again.

Furthermore, I would like to say that contrary to another review on this site, service is not included in the very reasonable bill, it is entirely at the customer's discretition.

Being a stereotypically "country girl" I love the excitement of going up to London. 1st found this place on a trip to London to watch football and staying in kings cross we came across it.

Even though it was a busy night we experienced quick service, attentive staff and lovely food.

Went away and recommended this place to everyone and recently returned and our second visit was as good as the first.

Anyone who dislikes this restaurant must have been looking for a 5 star restaurant, which casa mamma does not claim to be.

Brilliant food, brilliant staff, brilliant atmosphere.

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible, I wouldn't wish to impose this service on anyone.

The manner in which we were greeted combined with the very poor food and atmosphere make this a comfortable entrant in my top 5 worst restaurants ever.

Steer well clear.

Im a local businessman(estate agent) and I went to casa mamma three years ago.

I decided to take my Indian colleagues for anItalian meal. We were two men and there was one pakistani girl and a taiwanese girl. I am English born and bred in London.

I was surprised when my friend asked for a pizza with some chicken as a topping and even more surprised when the waitress told him there was no such thing.

I know the origin of Pizzas so no one in their right mind can say that you cannot add an ingredient on a pizza. thats what Pizzas are for!!

Anyway, he went on to ask her for anything she would recommend in chicken and the elderly waitress snatched the menu from him pretending he was illiterate and pointed to the chicken and sain CHICKEN CHICKEN CHICKENNNN!!

We then decided we had had enough and asked for her to bring us the bill and we wanted to pay for the terrible house wine and leave.

She replied, No you cant leave now! and we said okay call your manager and we told him about her behavior to no avail and we left.

I will never go there again. the service is pathetic and dont believe any positive reviews you see online, its probably the owners who put it up themselves.

Am I the only one who gets fed up with "reviews" from people who have clearly never been near the place? Why do they do it? Having enjoyed eating at the Casa for many years, we have never seen this mysterious "elderly waitress". The waiters are all very helpful and attentive even if you are not at "their" table. The atmosphere is friendly and the waiters will happily have a conversation with you if time allows which is all too seldom as the place is usually busy - a indicator of quality. Not being a wine buff, I can't give an insight into the origins of the house red but it has never disappointed and you are not ripped off by being asked to pay a fortune for it. I can't say that I've noticed the decor as I'm too busy enjoying my food!

Absolutely superb. This is a real traditional Italian place - not at all pricy with very high quality food. The service was top notch and the atmosphere very pleasent indeed. I would heartily recommend this place, but you will need to book as even by 6pm getting a table is going to be a challenge.

They even know how to make a doppio machiatto properly! First rate all round!

Casa Mama is lunchtime favourite and how can my Italian colleagues be wrong? The pasta is ALWAYS fresh and perfectly presented. Service is friendly and efficient. It is a refreshing place to get away from the ick of Kings Cross.

Absolutely terrible. The manager was abrupt. The pizza bread with garlic and olive oil was no better than cream crackers. My Cassa Mama salad (grilled chicken with grilled veggies on rocket leaves) had no dressing or flavour; the chicken was dry and the grilled veggies were straight out the fridge. My husband offered me some of his lasagne but I declined, not wanting to deplete his small portion any more. Afterwards he compared the lasagne to a ready meal and said it tasted like it had been made a week earlier. Unfortunately service was included in the bill because I would have preferred to have paid nothing. Don't get seduced by the lovely décor or convenient location. Cassa Mama is a waste of time, money and tolerance.

I had a very enjoyable lasagne at Casa Mamma. Guests should be warned not to take the sign about credit cards on the Website or on the door seriously because my lasagne and Italian beer lunch amounted to £9, and the waiter refused to take my credit card for less than £10. He referred to a statement to this effect on the menu, which I am sure every customer checks diligently. We 'solved' this by my asking to be charged £10 for my meal. Like many other readers at the British Library, I had made sure I had spent my last pounds before leaving England that evening.

It's unfortunate that the anonymous reviewer felt that his or her problem with the credit card meant Casa Mamma merited only 2 stars, despite a 'very enjoyable lasagne'. There is a notice on the door and on the bar concerning the minimum charge, not unusual in restaurants given the high charges card companies levy on them. If all else fails, there is also a cash machine in a neighbouring shop.

I have eaten several times at Casa Mamma. It's not the height of fine dining, but it is an excellent Italian bistro. At the price, I'm dinging it one star as it can be too crowded, with people standing waiting for tables.
