This Fulham nightspot is in a prime location, opposite Fulham Broadway tube, which means your drunken stumble home is that little bit easier.

The Venue
Unusually, Chateau 6 is an over 25s place, which means you won’t be confronted with the students that dominate the area. The venue is divided into three sections, with three different themes. The front bar has big, plush, black leather sofas and black marble tables and is definitely the most relaxed area. It is a place where you go to sit and chat and have some food. The middle section is where the DJ and the dancefloor is so, of course, this is where you go to party and let loose. It has a modest-sized dance area and attentive bar staff so drinks are always flowing. The back is where you are confronted with white garden chairs and faux rose and plants, and it is as if you are sitting in an English country garden. As it is near the dance area it can be a noisy experience but the whole place oozes sophistication. In the summer months the roof is retractable so it is as if you are sitting outside.

The Atmosphere
This changes from night to night. If you visit during the day, the front bar is the only open and is treated as an upmarket cafe. This means busy city types with laptops wanting to catch a quick glass before going home. On popular nights, i.e. Thursdays–Saturdays, it is absolutely heaving. The music is loud and obtrusive and the clientele is not very desirable. Picture posh city types that turn into a drunken mess because of the 2 for 1 deals. It attracts the wrong type of people, which brings down the tone of the place. The bar staff are quick to get your drinks and attentive but on busy nights are hassled and slightly abrupt.

The Food
When eating here the food is a dark horse. Looking through the menu, it looks quite average and unimaginative with pitta bread and dips for starters and normal bar like main courses. However, when you sample the dishes on the mains they are surprisingly tasty, in particular the Grilled pepper chili chicken for £8.50. It is a good blend of soft spices and it is lightly grilled with a hearty arrabiata sauce, which leaves you wanting more.

The Drink
There is a large selection of varying vodkas, from flavoured to high quality brands, such as Grey Goose. The cocktails start at £6 and have interesting and unusual concoctions. One which stands out is the Chocolate Covered Cherry which is a must for chocoholics.

The Last Word
Chateau 6 has the potential to be a lovely bar in the heart of Fulham, but instead it caters for people who have too much money than sense, therefore bringing down the quality of the place. Some would could the decor garish, others kitsch, all in all the bar needs to clean up its act so that it doesn’t become another lairy cheesy bar.
