Absolutely awful food. The standard has really dropped. Dry confit de canard, un-cooked potatoes, wrong sauce for the steak, sparkling water instead of still and the frites tasted as if they had been cooked in very old and dirty oil.

I kindly complained to the manager, he gave me no compensation at all, he said I should have complained to my waiter first. Had he not been so busy I would have been able to let him know, although he was not particularly approachable. I had to ask the waiter myself to not charge us service charge. £50 badly spent.

I will not be going back and will be spreading the word.

This excuse for a quality restaurant was disgraceful. The waiters (poor souls) tried very hard their best to please but the food, place, and quality, in fact everything was absolutely awful.
We were sat in an overcrowded restaurant with people standing about aimlessly waiting for a table. The place was like a ships galley. …Constant flow of people making their way through. The restaurant was cold and the windows had bacterial residue along the edges.

The starters arrived within moments (were they prepared for someone else, who saw sense and cancelled). My Camembert was not even melted through…and the onion soup was like dish water.

The red wine was cold and the water was warm. Hmmmm.

Then the mains arrived. Very deeply disappointed. All the food had too much salt. The flavours were totally overpowered. The waygu steak was overcooked, rubbery and tiny….the sides were cold and lacked any flavour, the mushrooms tasted like tinned. I could go on and on….please don’t ever waste any time going to this awful place.

We went to Chez Gerard last night for my boyfriend's birthday. We were ignored for a good few minutes before the lady and gent at the desk took time to look up. We got seated in a corner and were forgotten about. No drink orders were taken. We tried to wave, smile and were still ignored! We went up and asked if we could order food. They were really cold and unfriendly.

Once we ordered food we were served promptly by an excellent waitress. The food was great and although the service through the meal was slow we enjoyed our Monkfish and Cod with beautiful mash. The chocolate pudding was a disappointment, however the apple and blueberry crumble was fab. The waiters were friendly but the table coordinators were rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. We would have walked out if not for the food. I would recommend the food at Chez Gerard.

Every time I come to London (from Holland) my special treat is Chez Gerard. It's chic without the high bill. I love it! I invite my friends to Chez Gerard so we can share the ambiance, a good meal and great service.

Chez Gerrard is fabulous! The escargot are amazing, the steaks are out of this world and their frites are the best I've ever had. Reasonably priced and an absolute gem of a restaurant. We went for the first time last Sunday and we were back there again the next Sunday! Enjoy the hustle and bustle of Convent Garden and then head upstairs for some excellent food!
