I love the menu at Chicago Rib Shack! I have always been greeted warmly by the staff. I go here around once a month and have had absolutely no problems! Definitely recommending to everyone!
went last night with my girlfriend and had a terrible experience.
the bacon in the iceberg wedge was white in color and bone dry.
the broccoli and green beans sat in brown puddle in the bowl.
the onion loaf was drenched in oil and tasteless.
i had to send the ribs back because of the horrible smell and look of the plate, nevermind the terrible taste. full of fat and dry, manager even told us that he was getting many complaints.
the whole meal was so bad that the manager only charged me for the wine and service.
if you're going to go for the unhealthy option, it might as well be worth it and this place certainly is not. avoid at all costs!!
thought this would be right up my husbands street, after all I was planning a visit to Harrods so had to entice him with a good Dinner! the website was great and booking a table was straight forward.
however trying to get in on the special offers was hard, it wouldn't let me book in advance for those. i hoped that because i signed up for the loyalty card scheme that would earn me some brownie points - wrong!
it was a sweltering day on Monday and the only cooling system seemed to be ceiling fans above the booths which were only for parties, so the 3 of us were sat near the window. Not a great view being just above a bus queue!
however quick service, gorgeous food and lots of it. my daughters hot dog from the kids menu was huge, we ordered her a side of corn on cob and she got 2 corn cobs. my pulled pork was utterly divine and husband was a happy chap tucking into his ribs. we were fitted with our bibs and given hand wipes without having to ask. so an extremely pleasant meal.
by then we had acclimatised to the heat in the place, i felt sorry for the waiters indeed ours looked a little wilted by the time we left!
there were no discounts on our bill, even though i had been emailed that day to say 50% off all a la carte food, our booking was made outside of this window so we didn't qualify. also was looking forward to my daughter being able to paint a pottery pig but these were not available as they were stuck in china, after paying £70 for the meal maybe you can help the British economy and get your china made here in Britain?
Arrived just after 1:30pm at lunchtime with the good lady and received a warm friendly welcome. "Any tables take your fancy?" she asked, "Sit where you like". "Well I would like the booth table" I replied. "Oh no" she said, "that is for parties only". "What parties?" I said. There were only four other guests in the whole restaurant.
We ordered a well done burger. The server then enquired if we in a rush as the well done burger takes 20 minutes. We informed her that would be fine, well done please. Would you not prefer to have it medium, it would be quicker, she asked. well done please we replied.
Some fifteen minutes later a burnt Hawaiin burger arrived. Burger burnt, Pineapple burnt, bacon burnt and the bun, well, that was burnt as well. Burnt? Black actually.
Manager apologised, said it was because we ordered well done. I informed her that the reason is was burnt and tasted of carbon was because the chef, sorry 'Chef' had not cleaned the grill. After all, we had not ordered well done pineapple and bacon!
Ribs platter was ok, sauce watery, and at c £24 with chips, pricey even for London.
Even the servers were shame faced...... but not enough to omit the 12.5% service charge.
I was a regular visiter to the old rib shack many years ago and loved the food.
They have tried to copy the old venue but they have failed.
Have been twice to make sure i hadn't missed anything. The service was poor, wasn't even given bips for ribs and had to ask.
The ribs are not the same neither are the other bits, and the desserts are rubbish.
Sorry if i sound very negative but just being honest.
Would not be in a rush to go back, which is a shame as spent many great evenings at the old venue.
Having read the earlier reviews, we booked the restaurant with a degree of trepidation, but remembering its original carnation and the marvellous onion loaf, we decided to take the risk. Now located opposite Candy Towers, on Knightsbridge the view out of the window was of a morass of concrete, although probably better then downstairs. We were shown to our (rather cramped) table despite a number of more comfortable booths being free. The (excellent) waiter took our drinks order within 5 minutes, indeed the service throughout was excellent.
Started with the Chicken Quesadilla which was very tasty, although the accompanying salad came with grit. For mains, we ordered the full rack of ribs plus onion loaf. I remember the ribs being a bit more moist the last time I came about 25 years ago, however they tasted of pig and the accompanying BBQ sauce helped. The onion loaf was good, although seemed a little dry but again wasn't too bad and if you'd never had one before you would enjoy it.
Overall the 4 of us were all pleasantly surprised, however for £192 (including drinks 3 beers, 2 glasses of wine & 2 cokes) it is quite expensive for what it is.
Overall the experience wasn't too bad - I'd go back hopefully not in 25 years time when my teeth wouldn't cope with the chewy meat!
Complete waste of money!
Saw the menu online and it sounded like good old American Style food, burgers, BBQ ribs the lot. We arrived and were seated very quickly.
Ordered a Milkshake which nearly cost £4 so was expecting something quite tasty, bland. Might as well have got it from MacDonalds!
Me and my partner decided to order a burger each, everything else was so expensive and at least a burger came with fries...
I ordered the chicken burger with cheese and bacon, expecting a nice sticky BBQ flavour (its states rubbed in sticky BBQ sauce on the menu). The plate arrived with a burger and some fries. No BBQ sauce a dry bland piece of chicken with a crusty piece of bacon and some cheese. The bread roll was dry. £15 for a dry piece of chicken in a stale bun!
To be honest might as well have gone down the pub and had a much tastier meal for a quarter of the price!
Didnt even want to give this place 1 star! Needless to say I will not be going back ever again!
Never again, 2 dried potato skins for starters which had been in a hotplate for what looked like a week.chicken quesadilla starter was limp with hardly any filling.
The main course of pulled pork wrapped in bacon was o.k but the portion was not very big and had to order extra fries and manslaw, which together cost nearly £10.
2 beers and 1 coke later the bill came at a whopping £64.00 for 2 people and that was with a starter removed.
A complete waste of money.
