We came here for my girl friend's birthday here. The staff was very helpful, kept a discreet distance, just making sure everything ticked along correctly. To go into fine details regarding the food would not do this place justice. Will definitely go again. Its was not a cheap night though but definately not over the top, being located in Chelsea I believe it was justified for the quality of food and gr8 service.
Chutney Mary is like one of the hidden restaurants located more on a residential location in Chelsea. The Conservatory has a really nice ambience
The food is innovative in presentation and in combination of texture and tastes. Not a big fan of vegetarian dishes however I tried this vegetable dish the "Purple Clouds" on my friends recommendation. Eggplant, sliced thick, crispy skin, soft in the middle, topped with tomato chutney, yoghurt and some spices. I loved it.
Their mutton biryani was absolutely gorgeous and so was their lamb chops.
And the service is up there with London's best restaurants.
This is a lovely restaurant for its decor, ambiance and service. The food was nice and tasty enough although a little on the expensive side after all the accompaniments. Worth a trip if you are looking to spend good money in a relaxed eatery.
I took my girlfriend to Chutney Mary as I'd heard rave reviews from friends. The service is perfect, not too pushy but always there when you need attention.
We had the five course gourmet tasting menu, which, according to a waiter, gives a good overview of the restaurant's food. Every course was more of a surprise than the last. We had a great time at Chutney Mary and will be back soon.
Chutney Mary was disappointing. They had delicious food but an inflexible attitude towards our friend with a nut allergy. They had no real choice and the kitchen was unwilling to make something specially. None of us will be back to Chutney Marys.
I went to Chutney Mary for Valentine's Day and I really enjoyed the experience. I found the restaurant's decor beautiful, especially the stunning conservatory and for Valentine's Day, the restaurant looked sensational and romantic, with candle-lit tables and rose petals everywhere.
The food was not of the typical Indian cuisine found in other restaurants but was nevertheless delicious and the service was polite and speedy. There was also a jazz musician on the night, which certainly added to the atmosphere of the evening. Yes, the restaurant is pricier than most places, but you pay for what you get at Chutney Mary.
Chutney Mary is a really delicious place to eat. This restaurant has a great reputation and deservedly so. The food is delicious and there is plenty on offer. The staff at Chutney Mary are friendly and the evening went without a hitch.
I really recommend a visit.
Had been two years since my last visit to this highly recognised Indian restaurant, great back then! Had some friends down for the weekend in June 04, so I booked a table for 6 of us. What a disaster...out of the 6 of us my partner is a vegertarian, only the 3 options for her, and they would not accomodate the smallest of requests to leave out one ingredient in one of the veggy dishes, not impressed! When your paying £17 for a Biriyani and £40 a bottle of wine you expect some accomodating in your requests! None even bordering on rude.. 3 guys decided on the combo starter £9.50 per head so £28.50 for a plate with 9 mouth sized pieces of uninteresting, bland food.
We were totally unimpressed, our main course were again not appetising and certainly not endeering. The staff were good if a little pushy and too efficent! The surroundings are second to none for an Indian Restaurant, awesome place to dine, a complete let down on the food, had tastier curry's and larger!!
