How ridiculous! This restaurant doesn't allow booking for more than 8 people of the same gender?! Ive never heard anything so ridiculous! So if nine ladies want to book on a Saturday night they refuse the booking!!

With response to your views on our booking policy here at Circus, I would just like to explain why we have these restrictions in place;

We implemented the policy not to accept large single sex group bookings here at Circus approximately one year ago as we found that the balance and atmosphere of the restaurant was greatly compromised by lots of large single sex groups. This made for quite an uncomfortable dining experience for smaller parties, so to maintain the friendly and relaxed atmosphere of the venue we stick tightly to this rule.

As a small family run business it is essential that we take steps to protect the venue, it's ambience and each individual guests dining experience. We have found that this booking policy has been effective in achieving a positive experience for our guests on an ongoing basis, so have no plans to amend this at present.

We are genuinely sorry that we were not able to help with your planned reservation on this occasion.

Kind regards, The Circus Team

I arranged for my firm consisting of 54 people to attend Circus for a post Christmas party on 10th February 2012. I had never heard of the venue before and was very excited by their concept. Arranging the event was extremely easy as the events staff at Circus were excellent. I was even invited to a tasting before booking! We had exclusive use of the lounge area for pre-dinner drinks and kept the area after dinner and into the club night. We occupied the main table and a second row at the side. We had the sharing menu, which at first, I was a little concerned that the portions were small and not enough for 3-4 people. Although a little expensive, the food was excellent. Circus kept to their promise and was happy to replenish any of the dishes if someone did not get to taste or didn’t have enough to eat. I simply could not fault the attentiveness of the staff that were warm, friendly and catered to all our needs. Our package included unlimited wine/beer/water and soft drinks, which were topped up continuously. The circus acts were excellent! They were exciting, funny and most of all, put on a show that we had never experienced before during our meal. The performances were timed to perfection around each course, so did not interfere with our meal. They were tasteful and did not offend anyone, which is something I had to take into account, as our firm is quite diverse. The owner made himself know to me on several occasions, ensuring our evening was running smoothly. Our waiter in the lounge was lovely and very good ‘eye candy’ for the ladies! Our hostess during our meal again, I could not fault! An absolute wonderful venue not too big with a great atmosphere, with great food, full of entertainment and for once, fantastic staff. Many of us will be going back and have told all our friends about this great little find! From all at LLS

Nice venue, tables a little small made sitting for any length of time uncomfortable and you get knocked by waitresses serving tables beside you! Food fine if a little pricey and portions sizes very very small, we went on Sat having already had a great lunch, and coffee and cake at about four, yet we all left hungry and ate again at our hotel :/ - and no we not over weight gluttons!! Acts were good, atmosphere good and not a disaster, but not somewhere we would rush back to either. Glad we have been, but once was probably enough!!

Hello and thanks for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the atmosphere at Circus and appreciated our entertainment. I'm disappointed to hear you were still hungry later in the evening. Our Pan Asian menu is based around small, delicate and flavoursome dishes rather than large portions, so we usually advise guests order a few dishes from various sections of the menu to share. We wish you would have let us know that you weren't full so we could have organised further dishes for you!
Thanks for your input - we do use all feedback so it's much appreciated.
We hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in London too.

After reading this comment also thought twice about going. Glad we did... had a fabulous time. Decor very good taste. Cocktails perfect and steak one of the tastiest and cooked to perfection. All staff incredibly delightful and friendly and looked as though they loved working here. I loved the whole concept. Excellent talented acts which did not dominate the evening so we could enjoy the food, chat and indulge in the wonderful atmosphere and good music. Thank you for a lovely time. We look forward to visiting again soon.

I've never written a restaurant review, but like the last person feel compelled to redress the balance. Having read some of the criticisms we nearly didn't go, but in the end decided to keep the booking and make our own minds up. We all (4) had a great time, we thought the food and cocktails were imaginative, nicely presented, and well made, our beef, lamb and tuna were all cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly, helpful, and even described the ingredients in one of the dips for us. The entertainment was fun, but didn't dominate the evening and nobody rushed us from our table. Yes, its reasonably expensive, but the prices are advertised online, and this is central London! All in all, highly recommended. We'll definitely go back.

I have never written a view for any bar or restaurant before, but after reading some of the bad reviews I felt I had to comment. All I can say is that those who have given it a bad review are probably the type who criticise everything. I took my girlfriend there for her birthday last night (a Thursday) and we had an absolutely fantastic time. We were sat at our table from 7.30 to 10.30 and had 6 performances - one every half hour - which were great. Fire-eaters, hoop swinging, a lot of scantily clad ladies and some burlesque nipple tasseling. The food was excellent; the staff friendly and our waitress bent over backwards to please us. Would definitely go back again. And for those who thought it was pricey, you're right, but the prices are quite clear on their online menu. An excellent night out.

New menu at Circus is great - tried a LOT of the dishes - Loved them all but particularly the Queen Scallops and Black Cod.

Our waiter, an Italian guy was excellent and the acts were really very good.

The only thing I would say was that as it was so busy we had a bit of a wait for our table but grabbed a couple of drinks in the bar so not really an issue and was certainly made up for with the great night that followed.

I went to Circus on Saturday night and had a spectacular time. The staff were charming and humorous and really lifted the atmosphere of the place. The food was delicious and aromatic, a real surprise as we expected the usual supper club stodge. We saw an array of performers who perfectly punctuated our evening and wowed the out-of-towners on our table. The whole experience was glamorous, enlightening and entertaining. I will be bringing both friends and clients here in the future. What a show!

Visited Circus on a Saturday night.
The food while pretty good, is extremely expensive (and I like Scott's), particularly for portion sizes. Quality cannot really be criticised, (the King Prawns at £25 for 2 were fab if expensive) though a lot is fried.
The places where it really goes wrong - there are only a small handful of performances, and while strong, are way off the number I would have expected, and barely enough to keep the room entertained. For the prices, Circus could afford to have performers all over the room the whole evening, not just one chap dressed up as Ring Master strutting around. Also, who is the target audience? I wouldn't go there for a romantic meal (soulless), I certainly wouldn't take business clients (bit tacky, underwhelming) and for the price I would rather take family elsewhere.
In addition, despite spending £500 on our table of 4, we were kept to a two hour slot and chucked off the table!
I see no reason for going back, and won't recommend.

Hello,

Sorry to hear your evening was not what you had expected. Whilst we do offer entertainment at Circus we are primarily a restaurant and bar so like to give our guests chance to have a chat amongst friends/colleagues over dinner without too many interuptions.

We do offer two sittings at the venue but also encourage our guests to continue their evening at our cocktail bar to enjoy the rest of the evenings entertainment.

Thank you for the feedback, we do hope that you may perhaps return on another occasion in order for us to turn your opinion around.

All the best

Went along to Circus last night... my third visit. They now have a new Pan Asian menu (I think launched this week). Was really great and improvement on the previous menu. My girlfriend loved it too - delicate flavours and great food for sharing.

Entertainment spot on as always and staff friendly. Love this place.

I went to Circus on Saturday for a birthday and I absolutely loved it. The food was absolutely beautiful… I ordered the steak, it was cooked to perfection! The atmosphere, friendly staff and stunning performances really made for a lovely birthday. The gorgeous bartenders recommendation of the Hinimoto cocktail to cure my gin craving, was perfect. 10 out of 10 Circus!
Only down point was getting lost in the toilet, however I think this could be down the amount of cocktails I sank! ha

We had a fantastic time in this restaurant last Saturday night (2 April).
We were pleased to find that the negative reviews on some websites about the venue, the atmosphere, the entertainment, the service and the food were all miles from the truth - I guess some people have ridiculously high expectations or are simply just too difficult to please….
The venue - just what we expected. Eclectic and quirky. Just the right size for the balance between entertaining but intimate.
The atmosphere - good music at the right volume, everyone seemed comfortable and cheerful and in a party mood throughout the whole night.
The entertainment - varied, interesting and fun! Just enough frequency to entertain without taking over the whole experience. Sure it wasn't Vegas, but - er, we weren't in Vegas were we ? !!
The service - excellent.. Maitre d' friendly and efficient. Cocktail staff at the bar cheerful and capable. Our table waitress attentive without being obtrusive. Perfect.
The food - great. Starter sharing platter presented well, variety and portion size just right, and very very tasty indeed. The different mains we had were top notch and just enough. We had the duck, fillet steak and chicken, all cooked perfectly and just the right size. Just enough room left for the brulee style pud which was lovely.
Special mention to our waitress Phoebe B (it says on the till receipt) - who was without doubt 100% faultless. A very nice touch too giving my son a "birthday cocktail", big thanks. x

All in all, a major thank you to all at Circus for helping to make my son's birthday even more special. I'll be recommending the venue to all of my friends and acquaintances. Cheers !!

Yes, I love how this place keeps beefing up its rating by posting positive reviews that don't actually reflect anyone's true experience there. Just have a look at how many of the five star reviews have only ever written one review too - for Circus. Shocker.
Circus is really such a laugh and needs a new set of employees.

My family went for my sisters 21st on 12th march. Great idea and a fun atmosphere, but the food and the service was a massive disappointment. When the starters came one of the chicken dishes was not cooked! Then when the mains came the scallops weren't cooked and cold in the middle, but I think worst of all the avocado that came with the dish as a garnish was black, how that even made it on a plate is a massive shock. Finally the birthday cake we pre ordered from them was a very dry inedible cheese cake. Add to all of this it took up to half an hour to bring drinks to the table after ordering. All in all very disappointing from somewhere with good reviews getting the very basic things wrong but charging a lot. The manager did give us a discount but the evening had already been scarred. Gordon Ramsey would of had a field day!!

Go for drinks and enjoy the atmosphere but I wouldn't even think about eating there.

I went to this restaurant on friday 4th March for my 21st birthday party. We had the 'stage' table and the sharing menu. There was so much gorgeous food and all 16 of us were pleasantly full! The entertainment was amazing!!! we had 4 fantastic 'shows' and we were all buzzing from the excitement. We all had loads to drink (all reasonably priced) and danced to the brilliant music. The variety of songs were great and suited all of us. The staff are lovely, service was quick and efficient and wow our night was the most fantastic ever! I would highly recommend this restaurant, i will definitely be going back. I couldn't find one fault.5 stars all round! :)

I have to be honest and say that I am completely baffled by the last two reviews for this restaurant. I never normally put my opinions into words (the verbal kind is my forte), however I just have to ask myself... what and huh? I was there sitting at a table right behind the stage on the Saturday night in question and have to wonder what are people expecting now days... An actual Circus with a big top and ring leader?

In this little West-End nook, its a marvel to find a place in Covent Garden that is fun, unpretentious and entertaining.. I do not think Circus sees itself as a Cabaret haunt that sells food, rather a great little restaurant that has spurts of entertainment, so expectations need to be harnessed I gather... and quietly I was amazed by the food, as I wasn't expecting a fine dining experience, however the duck salad blew me away, the aged steak was cooked to perfection... and the cocktails' balanced flavours of sweet and sour were rather wonderful...

I left with a smile on my face and my tummy full... and the lovely lady in coat check remembered me (or my coat) before I gave her my ticket... A personable touch is quite rare these days...
Hence the bafflement I guess...

My friend & I went to Circus last week & had such a brilliant night. The food was gorgeous – I had the duck salad starter followed by the lemon & ginger chicken – to die for!! The performances were great entertainment, some really impressive & some just hilarious. Great cocktails, lovely, friendly & attentive staff. All in all a perfect night out. Don't miss out!

Absolutely dreadful. Went on Feb 5th for birthday meal.

£50 a head for average food to watch 3 pretty poor acts. 2 girls holding candles dancing round the room is not an act... I think the management should go to see a circus to understand what it involves.

Menu is pretty limited and over priced, £4.50 for a small bowl of burnt chips just about sums it up.

Waiters rude and after food is dropped on your lap you'd expect it replaced not just thrown away. The 12.5% service charge automatically added to the bill is simply robbery.... be careful, if you don't ask them to remove it they just charge you for it.

Unless this place actually gets in some real acts (apart from the clowns serving the food) then avoid.

I have never written a review on any website before but felt the need to do so about the Circus. My friends and I went to the Circus last night.

My opinion - shocking!. We had a sharer menu for £60 which i wouldn't have even paid £10 for. The food was as others have said on this site, deep fried, tasteless and mainly luke warm.

Our starter sharers were a plate of - well i dont know what as it didn't resemble anything i've seen before. The "main" was some fatty pork, grissly chicken and a bit of veg. The steak was the only nice dish but for £60 this place certainly is not about good food. Desert was ice cream and berry mush in a jar that not only looked but tasted horrible. We waited a very long time for food and we got our mains at 11.15pm having arrived at 9.30.

We had the large table in the middle where the acts perfom and although a couple of the acts were fun, the acts lasted about 5 minutes each so hardly entertainment all evening.

After the last act we were kicked off our table, so having paid £60 for a terrible dinner we then lost our table although all the other diners kept thiers, but as we were on the "stage" we were booted. We were informed "we need to create a dance floor". So we were all left standing around in the middle of an empty "dance floor" like spare parts, watching the other diners continue thier drinking.

The music was very random, no flow from one song to the next, the DJ has no interaction with the party goers, he just bunged on a song that played to the absolute very end whilst he nipped out for a fag!

The toilets - for all the plush surroundings inside the resturant, the toilets are shocking. In the ladies someone has clearly had an accident of the smelly kind and at no stage during the evening was this toliet cleaned, it was vile and the smell was containted as there were no windows. Be careful washing your hands as you will end up with a shower - fancy censors - not practical!

Spend your money elsewhere.

I was in the group sitting beside the main table.

We also had to wait a good while for our food. The waiters did mention that there would be a delay. So we tried to make the best of the situation.

We all seemed to enjoy the food we it arrived. The chicken I had was lovely. I wouldn’t of ordered the pork belly. It being belly. There would have bound to be fatty.

We enjoyed the shows. Thou, some of us girls in the group where a bit put off by the burlesque show.

The dj was great. Playing a mixture of mixture of deep/soulful/nu disco (never heard of that before, until my friend said it was!) house whist everyone it eating. Then a party set once everyone has finished eating and the table/stage has been moved. It was great when he drop out the music in parts of the songs like Freedom and Empire State Of Mind. It sounded like the whole place was singing. I’m guessing you weren’t.

You forgot to mention that some of your crowd was eating on the floor when you had the table/stage. Some of you appeared to be so drunk, that we thought it was one of you that made the mess in the toilets.

Towards the end of the night the dj started playing mellow jazz. When one of my friends asked what on earth was he doing. He explained that the manager told him to. As “ the crowd that had the main table are behaving like a***holes and won’t put the their drinks down when dancing on the table”.

I have already recommend Circus to other people. However, my view might change if we had to wait long for the food again. And there was another crowd did now how to behave.

Serves American food that could use some improvement but still above average in London. Ribeye and chicken are good. Macaroni & cheese could use some salt/peppar with some crumbs on top (would ditch the tomatos).

Cocktails are really good.

Prices are slightly high relative to food and drink quality.

The venue is cool in some respects (walls), but drab in others, the tables (excluding the main table).

The circus acts are what make the place. If nudity (male and female) bothers you, I wouldn't go there. Nice to go somewhere different than a standard dinner for a change, but if you are squeamish, this is not the place for you.

Had a dinner at Circus for the first time last Friday. We braved our way through the snow determined to have a fun night out. Herd so much about Circus and my friends and I were looking really forward to it - so glad we made it as it is one of the best nights out I have ever had, at A restaurant! Circus is full of wonder! You walk into this amazing entry with mirrored walls and roof and this is where it all begins. Then inside and the place looks super amazing! We had some cocktails first and the music was so good we almost couldn't wait to dance. But first dinner! The staff were all cool and happy which makes a change where some places take themselves so seriously. Here all of the staff are just having fun with the customers and each other. The food was delicious and the entertainment. Hilarious at times and then also incredible! You have to see it to experience how cool it all was. Later the big table in the middle of the place was pushed aside and all of a sudden a dancefloor appeared. We might have gone out somewhere else but decided as the whole place got up to dance that there was no need. Danced until close and had a great night. I recommend Circus if you want fun and something differentthanks Circus! I'll see you again soon

Went to Circus last night for my companies Christmas party.
What an absolutely over-hyped restaurant this is.
To begin with the table was tiny , I was practically playing footsie all night with my colleague opposite.
We had opted for their 'Christmas' menu , the food was mediocre and tasteless and most it tasted as if it had been sitting around on the 'pass' for over an hour.
The appetisers were all piled on to a plate , the only notable dish of the night being the Beef Epanadas and the Calamari, their idea of a Bruschetta was to serve it on a stale piece of either what was Brioche or Cornbread and serve it with some lumps of feta cheese.

Main course was equally disappointing some over cooked very spicy pieces of Sea Bass and over dried basmati rice( which you could tell had been reheated in a Microwave ) served with what seemed to be some kind of 'Salsa'.

Dessert was very poor indeed , a stale piece (again) of Brioche and something resembling Lemon Angel Delight and Blueberries, which felt like it had been prepared a few months ago along with your Christmas pudding.

So during gaps in the meal you get to see a few different 'Circus' acts , two of which we're pretty impressive , the other had a woman revealing all bar her genitalia while you ate your meal, not impressed.

The Service was very rushed , but no worries we we're more than happy like the other reviewer to vacate our table, they seem to have that typical attitude that because they are working in an 'in restaurant' they can give as much attitude as they like.

The only other positive of the night were the Cocktails, they were great , but my suggestion would be if your going to go to 'Circus' go to one with Elephants and candy floss

All I can say is that the people who are writing positive reviews about Circus must be very easily pleased or have too much money to care how they spend it. We went to Circus on Saturday night and I was so unbelievably disappointed with the whole experience. When we first walked in I was looking around for some kind of Circus theme but could not see anything, the staff were dressed normally, most of them wearing black. The food was overpriced and well. Just horrible. I had the pork belly for main course which was just a load of fat on a plate with a prawn cracker and a bit of shredded vegetables - this cost £20, disgraceful. There were 4 of us and none of us enjoyed our food, we had the house wine which was £21 a bottle and tasted like cat wee. The "Circus" acts if you could call them that were so lame, a man throwing his hat about and then a yoyo, then a very unattractive lady taking off her clothes - one of the waiters then started doing acrobatics on a hoop which looked very skillful but he was dressed in jeans and a shirt and looked like he had just walked in off the street. We were actually quite glad when we were asked to vacate the table at 9.30pm, we had planned to stay and have a few cocktails but we practically ran out the door. We couldnt believe the amount of people queing to get in when we left and we told a few people not to bother! Overall we left feeling well and truly ripped off. Terrible Terrible place.

In a word... NAFF!!

Website makes it look better than it is. It is basically a dindgy little club with over priced food and drink. The House wine is £21 per bottle and you could buy it in your local off licence for £4 and it tastes disgusting and in here you have to pay for the privalige. The waiter suggested we went for a bowl of punch, that it works well for a group, great we thought, until we saw the £185 price tag. The best thing about the night was being with my friends, but we have planned this for a while and it was lowsy, we made the best of it. The circus acts were few and far between. Good when they came on, i will say that. The limited menu choice made it a struggle to choose, bad selection with a hefty fee attached, when it came it was very nice but very expensive. Veg, Chips etc cost extra. It is ok but for us a massive disappointment. Not what it says on the tin.Bit of Hen night venue i'd say. It hasn't even got signage outside the venue. Think twice!!

I went to Circus last Saturday night with a group of ten friends. We had an amazing time ! We had drinks at the bar for about an hour before our dinner reservation ... great drinks menu (served by very handsome bartenders ).
As we sat at our table and the food was being served to us, the shows were going on top of the big white table and girls performed all around the tables. Our food was excellent and service just outstanding. Great staff, cool decoration, amazing shows ... Overall a fantastic experience, there's really nothing quite like it in London !

I think a lot of the other comments given should give an indication of just how unpleasant Circus actually is. Great concept, very poor execution. I booked 2 weeks in advance over the phone and email for a group of 22 people for cocktails to celebrate a 30th birthday. Guest list was given, but not once did they mention that there were neither seats nor adequate space to even stand. The whole place, diners included are covered by only 3 bar staff. As guests not dining, you have to stand behind diners tables waiting for your drinks which feels a bit like a crowded commuter train.

Of my 22 guests, most apologised and left within the first hour without even getting a drink! In 2 1/2 hours inside, we managed to get 2 rounds of drinks in, of which I was charged twice for one of the rounds as they lost our tab... We had a pregnant lady in our group, and when asked if we could find a spot for her to sit, the staff told us we should have booked a table and there was nothing they could do, so sorry, she's going to have to stand.

Getting on to the staff, I have never met such rude, juvenile and all too self important teenagers in my life. They obviously believe that they are very suave and cool, all 22 years of them. The same lady mentioned in other reviews who shouted at guests did the same thing to us!

I asked to speak to the manager, whom after 45 minutes handed me his card and told me to phone next week if I had a problem cause they were actually just too busy to do anything about it now.

Please, read the other reviews and think very, very carefully before making a booking. The one star covers the mildly entertaining,if not repeated show.

I have been to Circus twice for drinks, once in February of this year, and last night. We had called to reserve a place for 9pm but upon arrival were told to come back at 10pm because there wasn't enough space. Eventually they let us in, guestlist notwithstanding apparently. It's an okay place, but I was quite surprised at the amount of rudeness we experienced, and I will never go back. The door staff were not accommodating despite our booking, and the coat check girl was annoyed to have to check our coats separately, as opposed to as one party of 10. Uh, sorry, we want to leave at different times, and that's your job. The bartender grabbed the drinks menu right out of my friend's hands, and then acted surprised when she said she was, um, reading it.

The worst though: Once inside a very rude young woman shouted at me in the bar area. She was white with long dark hair, North American accent, sitting with the Asian girl who was in the show (who stripped from the wedding dress to the nipple pasties) and one of the guys in the show. I had my hand on an empty chair at their (non-booked, obviously) table, and she yanked it away and yelled, 'Excuse me, I work here!' I said, 'sorry?' She said, 'I work here, back off!' As a paying guest I was shocked at this treatment from staff. I was also actually confused at her aggression when we had had no interaction. I said, 'Is there a problem?' and she stood up and got in my face and responded, 'Do YOU have a problem?' Appalling! And out of nowhere.

The bar is pretty but nothing special, the show's all right but not worth being treated so poorly. The restaurant would be wise to check out the quality of its staff, particularly their etiquette when in the venue themselves. You can't put a price on staff who don't act trashy. ;) I live nearby, but I will not be back - there are too many other options in the area where people are much nicer.
Sorry Circus - you fail. STAY AWAY!

i had a brilliant time at Circus last night. I went with a group of friends so got to taste quite a few dishes from the menu as we ordered their sharing platter menu which seemed good value. We were all stuffed and we had a few hungry men in the party, who were very happy. We all fell in love with the empanadas and will back if only for those! Tried a few cocktails which were tasty and reasonably priced. We saw some amazing and really quite skillfull performances. It really added to the night and the atmosphere was fun - everyone seemed up for a good time! I couldn't fault the service - friendly and efficient. All in all a top night out.

Im surprised at some of the bad reviews on view london of Circus. I think the place is fun and offers a great night out, with a cheeky twist. Maybe some people just take themselves and their idea of 'cool' a bit too seriously, which is a shame and frankly boring.

Recommended... I'll be back for sure!

Who is writing these positive reviews? Circus is terrible. It's that typical naff over-priced central london gimmick joint that designed to be opened, hyped and then sold in a year (opened in January 2010). Go to Covent Garden square or any street entertainer, literally any street entertainer and you'll have a better time. Sit in a room with everyone you hate from work chuntering about tea-cups and their miserable lives and you'll have a better time. If you want burlesque go to Volupte or somewhere else.

If you like Pixie Lott rather than the Pixies you'll like Circus. If you think the Daily Mail is a really good paper just telling it like it is, go to Circus. If you think Come Dine With Me is the acme of fun and sophistication go to Circus and NEVER leave, please.

Great place to spend a Saturday night - don't normally do the West End on a Saturday night, the idea fills me with dread, bridge and tunnel and all that. This place was serious fun, the staff were great, the attention to detail (my friend is a cocktail expert and we had the cocktail maker at our table advising us and gave us the best espresso martini I've ever tasted). The food was great but what really did it was the two girls who were on the hoop, suspended above a table doing all manner of things. Happy days.

Relatively horrible. Ambiance was dated, the entertainment tried to be cool, but fell short. Mostly the 1 star was due to the fact that we sat down at 9:15 p.m. and were not served entrees until 11:30. Food was generally awful - the equivalent of a chain restaurant - far overpriced for the quality. Save your money and go somewhere that has a kitchen that is not as overtaxed as this one was, with food that is not mostly frozen and reheated. I was completely unimpressed and would absolutely not return. This place will be closed in less than a year.

Absolutely none of the food on our menu is frozen. Everything is freshly prepared in house and cooked to order. We are particularly happy with the quality of our menu and the ongoing positive feedback we receive.

Interesting concept, good food, shame about the dire service. Tsable over 30 mins late and when ready didn't have enough seats. Staff tried to cram us on until we complained and another table was brought. The prosecco promised on arrival was forgotten until prompted, rounds of drinks were incomplete. It's a shame as otherwise it seemed like a nice place. Would I recommend - possibly and certainly with a health warning about the service. At least it saved the tip!

I was very surprised to read this review about the service being below par at Circus! I have visited Circus several times since it opened and without exception the service has been fantastic! I was so impressed that I had my birthday at the venue this year with 10 other friends who all equally had a wonderful evening from start to finish. The staff are energised, professional, extremely helpful and completely ahead of their game! Circus is my most favourite venue in London at the moment and I am sorry to hear that not everyone in London feels the same way!

I went to Circus last night with a group of 3 girlfriends looking for a different kind of evening. Slightly bored by the usual London restaurant fare (dreadful thing to say, I know) we were pleasantly surprised at how different and entertaining it was - from the second we got through the door, we were treated really well by the staff. The restaurant is stunning and although it was really dark, I quite liked the fact that we were hidden away somewhere in Covent Garden. The food was excellent - I had the ribs which were to die for (no bones so no mess!) - I'm still thinking about them now. The entertainment was interesting as well, some guy with a ball that looked like it was suspended in mid air. All in all, loved it and a very good place for those looking for something a bit different. x

The only nice thing I can think of to say about Circus is that the waitress was lovely.
Otherwise, I was left completely cold, much like my food.

The decor is fab, but the tables are too close together and its almost impossible to get out of some seats to go to the loo.

The bathrooms are too clever for themselves, with hidden mirror doors and sensors for the taps in the chimney which just make the whole experience annoying.

The waitress was lovely, very friendly and helpful (one of our party has a gluten allergy and she made absolutely sure of what she could eat).

The food was appalling.
I can only assume it was frozen and had just been defrosted. It didn't taste fresh at all, and most of it went cold within minutes.
Even the chips weren't nice, I don't know how that's even possible.

The drinks, in fairness, were pretty good but nothing special.

The "entertainment" consisted of three very short acts on a long table on one side of the room, partially hidden from view by huge pillars.
The first was excellent, really clever and impressive, as he did a kind of mime dance round a glass ball.
The second wasn't up to much, he just balanced on his hands and did some back-flips.
The third was the burlesque and she basically just took off a wedding dress and waved her tit tassels and that was it.

Since the first act was so good, the others were just a real disappointment and overall I thought there would be a lot more of it.

We had a table for 2.5 hours but left as soon as we'd finished eating and drinking.
I wouldn't recommend it at all.

I went to Circus over the weekend and I have to say it was absolutely outstanding.
I had never been there before and took my friends for a mini reunion and we had so much fun.
The sharing menu was fabulous and along with the entertainment we had a ball.
The staff were great, they had incredible customer service but certainly knew how to make you feel at home.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I can not wait to go back again! Thanks!

I took my husband to Circus restaurant last Tuesday for his 40th birthday. Obviously, I wanted it to be special for him and I was not disappointed! From the moment we were greeted to the moment we left, the staff were nothing but friendly and helpful. There was a completely different feel to this restaurant, due to the clubby type music playing in the background which really added to the buzzing atmosphere. But the piece de resistance was the amazing entertainment that you would only expect to see at somewhere like Cirque de Soleil! We witnessed three excellent acts during the course of our meal: two highly talented (and not unattractive!)acrobats and a man who cleverly balanced a glass ball on his hands and head whilst moving about on the stage/table!

Given the excellent atmosphere and entertainment, I half expected the food to be a bit hit and miss, but I can honestly say that our starters, mains and desserts were really delicious! I had toyed with the idea of taking my husband to a Michelin Star restaurant because he is every inch the gourmet, but he was extremely impressed by the quality of the food and wine at Circus. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a completely different and memorable dining experience! We will certainly be going back again!

I have been to Circus two times now. Last time it was an anniversary dinner during the week with my partner which was fantastic! The feeling when you first walk in is super cool. The entry is all reflective walls and very slick, leading up to the front desk where we were greeted by two gorgeous women who led us to our table for the evening the night was brilliant- entertainment just enough but not so much that we couldn't chat and enjoy everything else going on around us. Just when we would wonder what the next show might be the lights would dim and out came more madness. Perfect timing! We left that night having got more than we expected for a midweek night out! Last Saturday we went back for a friends birthday. Again we were beyond impressed, hence the reason i'm writing a review! Circus deserves one! The whole venue was filled with a great atmosphere and this time being in a large group we had a sharing banquet style menu. This came with enough of everything for everyone and champagne when we arrived. The waiter we had was hilarious, wearing skinny jeans and bow tie he was very Circus! The performances were brilliant again, two girls came out and were swinging around on a hoop suspended above the table doing things I didn't realise were humanly possible for two people to do on a hoop hanging from the ceiling! And another one to note was the very sharp looking guy covered in the most amazing tattoos and wearing leather (think Village People but way more chic and 21st century!) he also hung form the hoop spinning through it, around it, sitting in it hanging from it upside down, all whilst removing his piece after piece of leather attire. It was hilarious. Very slick but also very tongue-in-cheek. Anyone thinking about going to Circus should do it! For just 2 people or a huge party the experience is really fun. Oh and as the night went on we found ourselves up on the table dancing to all our guilty pleasures!

Circus completely exceeded my expectations. The 1950's style girls in the hoop were unbelievable and the boy walking down the steps on his hands we loved.

Our waitress Crystal was brilliant and the service from start to finish faultless. We couldn't decide on any one of the dishes so the 3 of us ordered to share. The steak was delicious and the ribs quite literally melted in the mouth we also tried the vegetable pastry... I am not usually one for ordering vegetarian but it was really good especially the dip that came with it. The apple praline cake for dessert well all I will say is try it for yourself.

To top everything off we were pleasantly surprised with the bill.

So good I am just trying to book for my boyfriends 30th. Brilliant.
