Lovely restaurant, good food. The service was good. The waiters were funny. You also get these free after shots. The food is pricey but worth it though. You have to think about it that; for good guilty food you to pay the price. Cheap food means dodgy shit.!
I was there on Friday with my friends and enjoyed my time. They have fabulous dishes.
They food is very mouth watering. not to oily like other indians. They gave you these shots and they are very nice.
They have signature dish called Chicken harili and it was very excellent.
The best in clapham I would say.
BE WARNED!!A couple of nights ago my friend and I got a takeaway from Clapham Tandoori. We hadn't seen each other for a while and my friend picked up the curry and was at my house within 3 minutes of leaving the restaurant. The food seemed warm rather than hot but I admit it did taste nice. However, within half an hour I was feeling ill and within 2 hours I was violently sick. So was my friend. It could have been something else but the odds of that happening are tiny. I was ill for 24 hours and had to take 2 days off work. Was it the food? Almost certainly. What did the restaurant say about it? Nothing. They responded a week late after I had sent 3 emails and phoned them (!!) and told me they would be phoning me back and sorting it out. It's a month later and they haven't. They have done nothing. Sums up the whole experience really...dreadful.
Definitely the best place to go for an Indian in London by a mile! The staff are really friendly and efficient and i've never once had a problem with service in all my visits there, and i've been there more times than i can remember! The new menu is brilliant, with all the old classics as well as some interesting new options if your feeling adventurous! For me, the suganda chicken is to die for, absolutely hits the spot. My other half tackled the tandoori mixed grill the other night, it was absolutely massive, but the clean plate half an hour later must have been testament to its excellence! The modern layout really makes it stand apart from other Indian restaurants, which all tend to look the same, and the location is ideal too.
We went there last night of the Wednesday banquet. £14 for a starter, main, rice/naan and a side dish. Not a bad price on the face of it.
However we were charged over £12 for popadums, which we were led to believe were complimentary, (only 5 of us eating) and £4.5 for one still water!!
Worst of all the waiter was very unsubtly shaking up bottles of bear that were going out on a delivery order which he seemed to find hilarious. I nearly walked out after I saw that, not exactly what you would call professional service.
Average food with hidden prices and unprofessional service
Clapham Tandoori is a reasonably priced Indian restaurant that delivers excellent customer service and good quality food. The food was very well presented and served on very modern, attractive plates. The staff were friendly and efficient.
The only reason that I have not given a five is that they brought two portions of chips instead of one which they said was on the house but was actually on the bill. We did not raise this with the staff, deciding instead to simply deduct it from the amount we left as a tip. Overall, Clapham Tandoori is a very good eating experience that we would recommend to anyone who enjoys Indian food.
I went to the Clapham Tandoori last night after a friend at work told me about it and I can honestly say it is the best restaurant I have been to in many years. The food is no less than brilliant and the staff were amazingly friendly.
Because there were 8 of us in the party I expected something to be forgotten from our order or some of the food would be served cold but absolutely not. Everything was done to perfection and my friends and I all agree that this is without doubt, the best Indian restaurant in London. Go to Clapham Tandoori, you will not be disappointed.
Clapham Tandoori is simply THE BEST Indian restaurant I have ever been to (and believe me I have been to LOADS). The food is out of this world, very good value for money, and the staff are extremely polite and friendly. The decor is very tasteful and they have small plasma TV's in the wall - very far removed from the curry houses of old. If I had to give Clapham Tandoori a rating out of 10 I think it would have to be 11!
