I visited club 49 for my 29th birthday with a group of friends and family for the first time. I have got to mention that the management there was extremely supportive in arranging my birthday celebration in terms of booking my table, preparing the guest list, dress code etc which was excellent and stress free! The venue and music was very good and staff including security was friendly and the overall service provided was exceptional, however I must add that that the venue is small but big enough to cater for the mature sophisticated/ lively audience it does. I was even happier that my friends and family had a wonderful night out in a safe environment. Big Thank you again to Milan!!
I went to club 49 for my 25th birthday with a few friends. What a brilliant night we had!I had booked 2 tables at the club, although we arrived an hour late club 49 was very kind to let us in and give us our tables! The staff were friendly and the service provided was good, the club however is surprisingly small so during peak hours it can get really crowded but hey its a club afterall, the music was brilliant- played all the popular and latest tunes. Overall my friends and I had a fantastic night out! Cheers Club 49 xx
If you're looking for a classy and good ambiance to hold a party or meet up with friends for a drink and hang out well look no further, Club 49 is the place! The location is good and easy to get to.
I celebrated my 30th here last year and we had a blast! So I thought why not have my 31st here again? So I did :)
The genre of music pretty much caters for all ages. The decor looks really nice and staff were friendly and nice too! Not to mention good selections of snacks and canape's too!
Would highly recommend. So check it out for yourselves if you haven't already!
I celebrated my 30th birthday last Saturday at Club 49 and I loved the club for a few reason but the main being the atmosphere which is so warm and friendly. We ended up booking with a deposit to guarantee some seating and it was as easy as a few emails and 1 phone call, no mess ups like so many other clubs as was surprised to see. Music was the normal contemporary west-end mix of rnb and house, dance floor was pretty packed so we moved between both floors fairly often. Service and drinks were amazing, Petra our waitress was, lovely, helpful and really funny so many thanks to her and club49 for a awesome birthday.
Went first time this Saturday and I can say I was pleasantly surprised. Although the club is very small, I can say it offers more than many bigger clubs in London. The club's interior is modern and well arranged. The staff is very nice and friendly, especially security guys working inside the club. Also, the bar has a nice selection of drinks with decent prices, while bartenders are friendly and professional. On the other hand, the club is very small and the floor gets crowded easily. Another problem is that the floor is situated in the basement, so you have to que in order to go downstairs. If you go up, then you have to que again, which can be frustrating. Another problem was the DJ who played the usual selection of charts and older commercial hits, so the atmosphere was pretty dull at the moments.Verdict: 4 stars, because of the small dance floor and average music, but I will definitely come again.By the way, the lady working at the door (with the guestlist) was very beautiful, so if she reads this she should know she has another admirer :)
Went to Soho on Saturday and ended up here and we weren't disappointed as the place was rocking!!!Music was great and the crowd was easy going, nothing to pretentious which was refreshing.Bar staff were fantastic, some of the best I've experienced in London. There was a bit of queue to get in and occasionally to go down to the dance floor but nothing major as it gave us opportunity to chat and joke with other guests. Security inside and out were great and so was the lovely hostess on the door, i forget her name!!!In a street that already has so many clubs i'm glad we ended up hear at Club 49 ooze's class and friendliness. Will defo be back.
Fantastic.
Door-staff very friendly and more than helpful. Went out for a cigarette and they were getting all kinds of abuse from 'undesirables' they weren't letting in for good reason nd were handling it professionally and courteously.
Staff inside are so helpful, cocktails priced perfect for London and Music and atmosphere are great.
All in all a great club/bar with a great atmosphere.
We went on a Monday and can only guess at weekends and mid week this is a perfect place to go.
It is an amazing club. Very well welcoming in the door. Staff is very kind and cocktails are amazing. I believe Human resources manager choose the staff carefully. After been in London night for 5 years I can say for sure that it is the best one in Soho.
There were about 25 that went out for a joint birthday and I was worried might have problems getting in etc as there were so many of us! But we had no probelms, the club is modern, door staff very friendly and polite. Had a great night would definitely recommend!
Went to Club 49 a couple of Fridays ago with about 12 friends and we had a great time. The drinks were flowing... and I mean flowing! The staff were very friendly ensuring that we were continuously served throughout the night at our tables. Security on the door were really nice.
The music was brilliant, club area downstairs played really good music.....a definate thumbs up if you are looking for a good night out with mates where you can have a laugh and enjoy yourselves!!
A friend and I went to Club49 a week ago (Friday night), this was the first time we had visited the club, the club is quite small with a fairly small dance floor but we had a fantastic night which was mainly due to the amazing staff. I can honestly say I have never been to a club where all the staff were so approachable and clearly cared that guests had a good time. My friend and I were particularly impressed with the door/security staff whom were friendly and professional and it was a refreshing change to find door staff who could clearly carry out their roles effectively without the bad attitude guests often encounter on a night out. We will certainly visit again and recommend it to our friends. x
Great night - celebrated my 22nd birthday here on a friday night with around 30 friends and had no problems. Happy hour until 8.30pm was fantastic, drinks were tasty and service and food was good. None of our party had any problems getting in on guestlist. Music was exactly what we wanted - commercial and RnB. Would definitely go again.
It’s just a shame I can’t give it half a star. Absolute rip off! It’s simple, if I came to your club with an I love London t-shirt and a map, I guess I could understand you trying to charge me more than what it costs to get in, but if I’m standing in the queue and watch you charge people different prices and more for me without an explanation what am I supposed to think? If this is what management is getting their hired muscle (or should I say lack of it) to do then steer clear of this place. I know it wasn’t just me who had this problem because I heard a few other people complaining. The doormen could really use a lesson in customer service, not impressed at all
Last year my niece and I arrived in London. Our first tour together and my first time in London. Our first night we found ourselves heading to the Soho clubs. We were intrigue to see how the Londoners do it over here as to what we do in Australia. The friendly doormen let us in, mind you who wouldn't let Aussies in!
The atmosphere was very different, music was good. Drinks compared to Australian prices were a little on expensive but when your on holiday why not splurge ! I would recommend this club to anyone. We found ourselves feeling very comfortable and enjoyed our 2 nights there. Yes we did return ! Enjoyed it immensely !
Had a wicked time at Club49, hired tables with no issue and got upgraded to the VIP area for no extra charge. Would recommend this place for a great night out in town with friend bar and door staff
Had my birthday party here on Friday 15th April, was a fab night, cocktails are amazing, the staff are lovely and the music was fab, all in all a top night out, I had about 30 friends attend and they all said what a great night it was. Thanks Club 49.
Great place if your looking for somewhere to start and end the night.
has a relaxed bar atmosphere early doors and a more sultry and clubby atmosphere later. Drinks are well made and priced, i loved the happy hour which is got us off to a great start.
It was extremely busy and slightly overcrowded the Friday i visited but I'm glad we emailed in advance for a reservation otherwise it would of meant no seating!! Have to say the music was exactly what we were looking for and thanks to the Dj for the birthday shout out which i thought was a nice touch to an already fantastic night out.
Will definitely be back.
only there for a short time for a private birthday party and had area at the back to ourselves with our own bartenders who made amazing cocktails. Very stylish, great staff and no hassle, music great. Wish I could have stayed longer and will go back. really relaxed but with style.
Went to Club 49 on Saturday 27th November after reading the good reviews. I would say that the Viewlondon description is pretty accurate but the "stylish" bit is a bit far fetched. Upstairs is quite nice, and the staff were very friendly. In terms of the dancefloor, it was quite small, I'd say. Not a lot of space to move around and I was unfortunate to go on a night when there was a large group of people who were clearly having such a great time that they decided to form jumping huddles and carry each other at random points during the night. In terms of the music, it was very commercial - chart hits only. I wouldn't say that the dj showed much creativity. Not a lot of mixing - it was one of those where one song finished playing before another one came on. You also know the dj has a completely different and unrelated daytime job when they play "dj got us falling in love" 3 times on the night. In terms of the crowd, it was very diverse which means it would be a decent chilled out night with a bit of dancing and not a lot of pouting and pretentiousness going on, so if you're looking for a glamorous night out for spotting hot guys and girls, I'd go somewhere else. Everyone was at Club 49 to have a good time I'd say. Drinks. I'm not the most creative when it comes to drinks, but I'd say the prices are decent for Central London. Would I go back there again? Not so sure - wouldn't be at the top of my list, and would take really strong convincing. I hope everyone finds this review useful! I have rounded 2.5 stars to 3.
it s very nice place, i was @club49 on saturday and there is a lovely woman at the door she ask me guest list very kindly. securities are friendly and helpful. so drinks are not expensive i m booking from online and maybe 2 hours later send me e-mail to replay thank u see u next time
Just had my birthday party here and was absolutely brilliant! Extremely smoothly run, and everything from guestlist to table bookings organised so easily. Cocktails were delicious as ever and the service was excellent. This is the second party we've booked here, already looking forward to the next one!
My review is a bit mixed, but overall Club 49 is a great place for good drinks and literally a bit of everything musically, complemented by nice chilled out atmosphere. I’ve just move to London and ended up coming to Club 49 on Saturday for my sister’s friend’s birthday. It was an amazing night, the place had been kitted out for Halloween and the staff had some fantastic costumes, even one of the clubs security had a creepy pair of white lenses in. This leads me to the bad point of Club 49, security, well at least two of them. Management have got this all wrong, the two neanderthals on the door should be fired or replaced by the two decent human beings inside that know how to treat people and even have a dance! The extremely overweight one constantly had a cigarette hanging out of his mouth coupled with list of unfunny joke and endless profanity which was really off putting, the only good he did was get us a taxi home at the end of the night. As for the other one whose suit must have been in the dry cleaners or maybe he tries to stand out from the crowd. He thought he was God’s gift, more like Devils surprise. I don’t know if they get to read this but someone should tell him that if a lady is not interested don’t take offence by being rude and trying to put them down. I think it’s really sad that he takes his own insecurities out on other people; I don’t think I’ve ever met someone as rude as him. He is clearly in the wrong job. Oh and a big commendation to the lovely door girl who has to put up with them. But as stated before great club, great music, great atmosphere, it’s just ashamed you have to pass those two on the way in or be in there presence whilst having a cigarette.
A poor night out. Bar staff are great but that is where is stops. Music was all over the place so hard to stay on the dance floor for any lenght of time. For Soho this is a major let down.
We got on the guest list for the eighties revival night with Key To London. There was a few of us and must say one of the best nights we have had in Soho. The door staff were great especially door host Sophie. She was really nice and got us in with out any problems. The music was great and brought back memories.! Bar staff were all dressed up in there 80's outfits and were really friendly. The drinks were average for the area and will most certainly come back next week Wednesday. There are not many places in Soho that have eighties night and will recommend to my friends. Thanks again to Key To London for organizing the guestlist and thanks to the Club49 staff for a memorable evening.!
The staff at this club are mostly great, didn't notice any bouncers on the door being rude or aggressive. The music is really good, decor is lovely and drinks are expensive but nice.
However, the atmosphere in this club feels borderline dangerous once you're in. I went with a big group of girls on a Saturday night. After about 11.30pm, the club was packed, and the guys in there were using every opportunity to rub up against any girl dancing or walking past. My friends were literally having to fight guys off who would not take no for an answer. It felt like the crowd was out of control. We felt very unsafe, and felt like we had to stick to each other like glue to make sure we were all OK.
We didn't see any bouncers inside controlling the crowd - the only security presence we saw was when a girl in the toilets collapsed and her male friend went in to help her, and a member of security aggressively removed the friend, which we thought was unnecessary. Especially because on the dancefloor there were numerous girls clearly having problems fighting off unwanted physical attention.
We'd never go back there again - a couple of my friends were really very upset by the whole experience. Not good.
I live in London for 2 months now, and Club 49 is one of those places where i think 'Hey i really like it there'
There is a lovely woman @ the door and the security is friendly.
a few weeks ago i forgot my ID @ home and i understand that they can't let me in without showing my ID..
So i went back home take my ID and the woman she let me in without paying... She also could say 10 £ please...
The second time a friend of mine told us that he had a membership card and if u have this card u r allowed to bring 1 or sometimes 2 people in and they don't have to pay entry...
I thought i have to pay 10 £ like everytime,
but the young lady she told somebody that me and the other guys only have to pay 5£ :D
The Drinks are not cheap i know...
But the music is great and the barkeeper r all friendly :)
Sorry if my english is not the best :)
We were in London, from the North East of England, for a girly weekend a couple of weeks ago, we had a fantastic time the door staff were fab and we ended up in VIP lounge, which we thought was great, the staff were helpful and even made sure we had a taxi back to our hotel. No problems with the music, atmosphere or the staff.
This is a rubbish establishment. The bouncers are happy to assault their clientele for absolutely no reason and provide no explanation for their actions. The drink prices are massively overpriced - 16 quid for 2 vodkas. The music is very average and their is little sitting if you are more than 4 people. The door staff are rude and have major attitude problems. There are much better and friendlier places in Soho. Give this one a miss.
I noticed the view London sign as I was leaving the club yesterday night and thought I would leave a little review. After having a read through some of the most recent posts I have to say I’m quite shocked. Me and a few friends had finished a meal and were passing by Club 49 when we were asked by a very friendly doorman if we would like to come in for a drink, he informed us what the club consisted of and considering it was free we decided to go in. I loved the layout and there was a very friendly atmosphere, the bar staff were also very friendly. We got settled and the night began, it wasn’t overly busy but it was nice.
Now, I'm a chain smoker so I spent more time outside with doorman than I did inside! I can’t remember his real name but his nickname was Dj (I was a few cocktails in by then). And quite frankly I've never met someone with such great people skills. The way he conducted himself and spoke to people entering and leaving club has really changed my views on Doorman completely. He was polite friendly but was still had authority, even down to how he turned people away and dealt with an overly drunk crowd, they felt bad afterwards and were all very apologetic to him. At the end of the night he got us a taxi home. As well as a great bar good music and friendly staff he was the best thing about the whole experience.
I know I went on a bit but I work in PR and he is the sort of person you need that can handle all kinds of situation be them good or bad and can leave a lasting impression as he did me, because when you have someone like that front of house your already off to a flying start, It gives the person and insight before they walk through the door. I very much doubt that he was part of these other bad reviews and to the doorman that were, well, they could certainly take a page out of his book, or further more take the whole book! Had a great night and will certainly be back very soon, keep up the good work Dj! :)
Yesterday i go to 49 club and have a good time with all my friends. We come here for holiday and highly recommend for dancing and fun in London. Is not a cheap bar but famously Cocktails taste wonderfull. The Interior is pleasing and lighting is very wonderfull. We meet with Italian bar staff who translate many of the ingredient in drinks and made our own special Cocktails only for us. We will be back before we leave the uk! See you very soon!
Went to club 49 last night after dinner next door and had a brilliant night-cocktails are lethal but taste smashing. Chinese bouncer at the door was so funny-him and the English guy are like stand-up comedians they made me laugh so much! Dance floor is not huge but just the right size for a night out in Soho - music was good. I had not really heard about the club before so googled it this morning and was surprised from some reviews-thought staff were alright. One thing i would advise is use cash as there is a service charge in most of these kind of bars- i prefer to be able to choose when to tip rather than feel obliged to. All in all, a fun night in Soho!
Club 49 is the worst club ever! Don’t waste your money and time. The staff were rude and unprofessional. An average club and really overpriced. I went there on Saturday (it was my friend’s birthday party) and had the worst experience ever, especially from the door staff. Rude guys who think they’re working at Chinawhite or something...But the worst was the manager on duty - who couldn’t be bothered to help and ignored the person in charge of the party for the whole night! And don’t even get me started about the guys on the door. They were threatening and talking to everyone like shit! Seriously, this place is a complete waste of time.
The manager was awful: rude and obnoxious. Unaccomodating and had no people skills, looked at you as if you had the plague, and I was completely sober! Great first impressions!
Bouncers made the evening really miserable by being rude and condescending to all who entered including me. It was a cold night and the bouncer screamed at the guy in front of me to remove his hat, and told the guy that if he put the hat on once inside the club he would be thrown out. I was lucky and escaped humiliation and was just barked at rudely.
I was attending a friends birthday and felt that some of the staff went out of their way to ruin her evening......you only turn 30 once and my poor friend had a miserable birthday.
Completely unwarranted for such a small unremarkable club! Club 49 is not a venue I ever want to return to.
Went to club49 on Friday celebrating my friends birthday and had an amazing time! Milan the manager was very helpful in booking us couple of tables for the night. We had no problem getting in as the door staff were professional with a sense of humour. Not like your typical West End door staff. The cocktails were to die for as they were really popular with our group. The bar staff were very friendly and the drinks were flowing without waiting ages for it. It was a great experience for us as I speak for my whole group. Will be going back to club 49 in the near future, thanks to Milan and the whole team for making our night!!
Had 2 tables booked last saturday for my birthday and had a great ti'me. Im surprised by the previous review because all I wanted to say is that I was very welcome to the club from the start to the end of the night, the waitress very lovely and took care of our tables all night,i had a few amazing shots offered by the manager to celebrate my birthday and had a cab called for me at the end of the night in less than one minute (quite unusual for a busy club)so overall I had a great time dancing with my girls and chatting around,i will definitely be back ,thanks to all the staff at Club49!
i couldn't agree more with the posting below. i would have awarded this place no stars if i could. the door staff were among the most agressive and unpleasant i have ever encountered. avoid this place like the plague. and don't let management fool you with a response saying we were most likely drunk and unruly. everyone going in seemed sober, well dressed and well behaved, but this didn't stop the two idiots on the door treating them like complete crap / naughty school children / criminals. i also think the management's responses to previous criticism on this message board tells you everything you need to know about the way this place is run: take a look at some of their childish responses to previous posts (especially earlier in the archive). it's a true sign of how they deal with any form of negative feedback. unprofessional, unfriendly, overpriced, pretentious, and... well, just awful. it's london town - go spend your money somewhere else!
I usually organised my best friends birthday, and went and got the managers card to find out the rates for hiring the entire club in mar 10, the bartender at that time were extremely helpful. Just to check out the place and the service, we went there last Friday. The very sweet lady who was the hostess at the door instantly gave us the seating area, we also told her we were thinking of booking the place for my friends birthday and since it was also very near my office it could be a very regular hangout.
The evening progressed very nicely, they had awesome happy hours till 8:30, we were upstairs till 9 pm and then went down to dance, when we were going to go down to the dance floor, the bouncer quite rudely told us we were not allowed to take the jackets, we obliged immediately by check it in .. we were all given very small slips as a tag, when you have had a few drinks especially when you extend you happy hours till late I guess you should also be a little more lenient towards a woman who seems extremely harmless. When I came out i told the bouncer that i could find my tag and if i could just tell the coat's lady which one my coat was, not only did he refuse to let me find my jacket, he did not allow me to go inside the club again to find out if i left it with any of my friends inside, on the context that i was rude to him. I am 36 yrs old and have excellent rapport with most of the bouncers in the places i ve visited very very frequently in the past. I was shocked by his insensitivity and by the way he actually let a girl stand outside in the freezing cold without a jacket after much pleading. The kind hostess obviously felt the pain and she tried to usher me a cab. I would personally never go to this bar again, but will also ensure from all the mediums, FB, Skye , email to tell everyone not to book this place again or go there. I have never been so humiliated in my 36 years for no reason. I was not a rowdy drunk man being aggressive all i did was pleaded.
Celebrated my boyfriends 24th birthday at club 49 recently. Have had a very different experience to the last few reviewers. Booked the VIP room which had its own bar...very good as we didn't have to que for drinks. Cocktails were very tasty (particularly a berry and ginger concoction...cant remember name) and the prices were as fair as you could expect for central London. Was a bit concerned about getting all my friends in but bouncers on door were very great, especially blonde lady at the door.
Towards the end of the night things got a bit messy as the drinks were flowing, bouncer on VIP room was great, had quite a sense of humour and didn't get at all arsy, even when we were singing to him :) Milan and Marcelo were very helpful with all the booking details, and guys behind the VIP bar and the waitress were lovely and helped with bringing in a cake. Although we didn't make it down to the dance floor much music was good. Awesome night. Would def recommend it!!!
I visted this place last weekend. I agree with a poster below, it was just like a club in Essex. As with the poster below, I also had a problem with the service charge. THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG DRINK. I also pointed this out and was treated very rudly. i asked to speak to the manager and i was told "he was to busy". The staff are very rude, the drinks are badly made and the atmos was cheap. I had my one and only drink and we left. having said all that, the music was ok (the only thing saving it from a 1 star). As a law student I do have a good understanding of consumer law. The Supply of good Act clearly states:"Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality". This means if the the customer below was supplied with faulty goods (goods that they did not order) it is indeed wrong to keep the service charge.
I have never writen a complaint before, but after my visit to Club 49 I was left so mad. I visted this "club" after work on monday night. The night started off nice enough. I was with a group of freinds who where attempting to teach me to dance. We then decided to get some drinks and then it all began to go wrong. First of all my friend order a vodka Red Bull and what he got as a Sambuca Red Bull. Ok mistakes happen. But when we pointed out this mistake they refused to change the drink. We then noticed that they had added service charge to the bill, which we asked to be taken off the bill. The bar man refused. We then asked to see the manager. He also refused.
When I Pointed out this was Illegal under the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982. He got very, very aggressive. Swearing at me countless times, both verbuly and with hand gestures. He is the worst manager that I have ever come across. He really is in the wrong job. Do not go to Club 49! Unless you like being treated appallingly.
