Having read all the reviews on various sites and wanted to try Cochin Brasserie we finally decided to go there on a week day. In and out it wouldn’t look like an Indian restaurant at all. It’s an all white restaurant compared to the usual bright colours for an Indian. The staffs were very welcoming and did explain every dish as most of the dishes were new to us. We could not find any usual names on the menu which was in a way a bit adventures for us.
We were a table of 5 and the young chap who took the orders never had a pen or paper with him. There were 5 starters and 8 mains (including the veg sides) and enough rice and breads. We were a bit worried to see that he would mess up the whole order but was really astonished to see him repeating the order before leaving to make sure it was right.
When the food arrived we were all really impressed. The food was light, fabulous and was made up with fresh ingredients (could tell from the taste). You could get the different flavours at times.
This has turned to be my all time Indian restaurant from now on. Never disappoints. Above all not over priced at all. For 5 of us the bill was only above 100 pounds. Highly recommended!

Having read previous positive reviews about Cochin Brasserie I decided to try their cuisine for myself. We ordered four starters: Mixed seafood dry, fishcakes, spicy chicken and Herd Lambs balls. When they arrived, I was quite impressed by the presentation and taste of the starters but was alarmed to find the fishcakes were stone cold and my partner thought his was so cold in the middle they may have been pre-prepped and then kept in a fridge and then reheated for far too short a time. To the restaurant credit once alerted they quickly brought some steaming hot ones and offered an explanation I couldn't fully understand but I infered that the original ones came out by mistake and hadn't been heated up! They were extremely tasty but the fear of dodgy bellies the next day kind of ruined the experience.
We then both ordered Lamb Kadia with garlic nan and mustard rice for our mains, and sorry to say we were disappointed to say the least. The meat was not in chunks but ridiculously small pieces, gristly and tough, and I sincerely believe is was more beef than lamb. It reminded me of something I'd give to my cat. The sauce was less than fragrant and tasted purely of tomatoes and was very oily. I love Indian food but struggled to finish half of it, the curry was awful and certainly not worth the 8.95 per serving. I would not return to this restaurant.

Had a very nice curry with my husband, who is Sri Lankan. He said it is the best "restaurant" curry he has ever tasted - and he should know!

The starters were absolutely gorgeous - and plenty of them! We enjoyed it all, but the restaurant is a bit lacking in atmosphere. Staff were very nice and since my husband was so impressed, I'm sure we'll be going back!

They do some of the best mild dishes around, it's nice to have somewhere that doesn't specialise in curries that just blow your head off! Truly delightful!
