Corney and Barrow bars have followed the regional evolution of the City and now slake the thirst of workers from Bank to Docklands. With its sister company’s paramount reputation as established wine merchant, their bars have been spruced up for the new generation of London bar flies whilst maintaining high quality food and drink.

The Venue
Corney and Barrow responds well to the seasons. The terrace, either touched by scorching summer sun or warmed in winter by the heated umbrellas, overlooks the still waters of West India Quay. The bar introduces the long line of chain bar drinking houses along the water. By far the classiest establishment amongst them, it is ideal for pre-commute, after work drinks.

The Atmosphere
Corney and Barrow doesn’t try to be fashionable; it is a laid back and comfortable space. Constantly busy, there is a sociable level of animated conversation; you can expect to see a CEO or two pop down for a cheeky coffee and cigarette but in the same glance, catch formal breakfast meetings. In the evening, the jackets come off and ties loosen at the promise of relaxation.

The Food
Bowl after bowl of golden chunky chips emerge from the kitchen to accompany upmarket snacks, sandwich platters and mains. They are extremely good. Nothing risky enough to cause professional embarrassment, the menu presents seasonal and classic options such as roast sea bream or steak, that can easily cater for a power lunch. The shareable bar snacks in the evening are equally good twists on classic party food.

The Drink
Sourcing from their namesake wine merchants, Corney and Barrow’s standard of wine is unwaveringly high. The house white is consistently good, but for the occasions where you may want to impress, wine connoisseurs can source vintage gems for a price.

Hearty measures of spirits are served for the cocktail lover, and bottled beers are also available. It is remarkably easy to put your card behind the bar and coupled with adept table service, it is easy to let the night and your bank balance run away from you.

The Last Word
It is tricky to find a table in Corney and Barrow so it is advisable to book for big parties. This bar provides trusty service, food and drink without any gimmicks or frills.
