Operating as a coffee shop and cafe during the day, and an intimate French bistro by night, Cyrano is a friendly stop-off to refuel with the personal touch.

The Venue
Located on Holland Park Avenue, Cyrano is easy to find with a wide, sky blue frontage opening up onto the main road, just a short walk from Holland Park tube station. There are outside tables for the warmer summer months, and inside there’s an authentic Parisian bistro feel, with cute round tables, comfy leather booths, delicate red lamps, and twinkling candles in the evening.

The Atmosphere
Cyrano attracts an eclectic mix of wealthy Holland Park locals, from trendy boho chic aristo’s to public school boys, middle-class families and well-dressed older types. There’s almost always a fairly busy mix of people, served by friendly and attentive waiting staff who know many of their customers well and are happy to stop for a chat or make a recommendation from the menu.

The Food
Offering traditional French fare, the Cyrano menu offers everything from snacks like eggs benedict and Croque Monsieur to burgers or full blown meals such as fillet steaks and fresh tuna nicoise. Even better are the desserts, with a traditional sweet and sugary creme brulee as well as a wide choice of chocolate concoctions such as the light and fluffy mousse au chocolate served with fresh raspberries. Prices are around £5-8 for snacks, between £8 and £15 for main courses and about a fiver for desserts.

The Drink
Serving every kind of coffee imaginable – machiatos, mochas, lattes, cappuccinos, and who knows what else, Cyrano is marked out clearly as a coffee shop and cafe bar during the day. However, at night the wine lists and spirits represent a better deal than the food with the French (of course) house wines available from just a tenner.

The Last Word
Cyrano offers an upmarket slice of Paris in the heart of plush Holland Park, with well-executed French food and chatty, pleasant staff.
