No stars, please. A large group of people, Deaf & Hearing (professional sign language interpreters and actors), attended the D'eclipse Restaurant for a much looked-forward triple birthday gathering one Saturday evening before Christmas. We were enchanted by the impressive website and the location was good for all of us, travelling from every corner of London. We arrived between 7 - 8pm, 22 of us trying to sit at tables laod out for 16 people (we had booked for 22). We noticed that the arrangement of tables in the restaurant could have been improved, as there were empty seating on the wallside benches.
Food and drink were ordered individually, by name, by the waitress (this was the only really ggod service we had). We waited, and waited and waited..... the first disn came around 9.50pm, then like every one or two dishes at 15 minutes intervals. We were upset because of the long wait, one had to order drinks and bread due to her condition, some of us had worked and no meals all day, whilst other diners were served.
The last meal was served after midnight, but by then, we never were able to say 'happy birthday' to the three, four of us left without their meals around 11.45-12.15 to avoid missing last trains etc, upset and tired. There was dissatification at how we were being treated when dishes were still being served elsewhere!! It was a great humilation for the one who booked us to dine there, he is a proud African citizen of London.
He was furious. I got my food about 10.30 but could not enjoy it as the birthday people didn't get theirs till nearly midnight!!! Some of us had to look into the kitchen (we were given the impression that only one person was working there) and saw FIVE people lolling about, sitting, picking at their food!!! We were allowed to pay 50% the bill but still we are left with very sad memories of what could have had been a brilliant and proud evening. :-((((((((( never again, give us another better-serv
