We go to this place with colleagues quite often. It is a good restaurant. We sometimes use it for our business meetings as well. The food is good and the price is OK. Good atmosphere and décor, nice cakes and friendly staff. I suggest it to my friends.

We had lunch here from the brunch/lunch menu on a Sunday afternoon. I found the service very attentive, particularly as we were there with our 16 month old son meeting friends. The place was not especially busy, perhaps this is why my experience contrasts so much with some of the other reviews. The food was lovely as was my freshly pressed pear juice. I especially enjoyed the mixed mezze which we shared as a starter. The waiter forgot to put my friend's dish on our order and he was given a free salad and beer to compensate him for waiting which he didn't even have to ask for. I only wish I had left more room as the cakes looked lovely.

This place is a waste of time. The food is mediocre, I had a Merguez sausage pitta - three sausages AAA battery size, charred with salad and a drizzle of yogurt for £7. The service was slow and disorganised and complete unable to cope with the full restuarant. My lunch arrived 15 mins after everyone elses and pitta for the starter arrived after most people had eaten the mains.

Avoid!

Take the worst brunch you have ever eaten in your entire life bar none. Multiply it by a billion times and you will get a rough idea of how bad the food is at Del'Aziz.

My girlfriend ordered eggs royal, which was supposed to come with 2 "poached" eggs. The eggs looked like they had been napalmed - the yolks were rock hard! I called the waiter over and asked to change the eggs. He replied "oh, so you want soft eggs...". OMG

When the eggs royal came back 15 minutes later, I really felt like going into the kitchen to poach the eggs myself! The eggs were not poached, they had been microwaved!!

Don't even get me started on the service there. When I asked the waiter what kesar cheese was, he answered "some kind of cheese..."

And what is with the plates? My girlfriend and I nearly burnt ourselves touching the plates!

Finally, if you do decide to go, please don't order the pancakes even if it is the last thing you do.

I am now trying to block out the 1 hour we spent at Del'Aziz from my memory.

If the Fat Duck is at one end of the culinary spectrum, Del'Aziz is firmly entrenched at the opposite end.

We had booked Del Aziz Bankside for their New Year's Eve Party in 2009 and I'd have to echo other reviewers' comments about the appalling service:1) My friend found the wooden stools uncomfortable so he politely asked if we could exchange one for a chair. The waitress (who appeared to be manager) said that this wouldn't be possible due to other tables being booked. Twenty minutes later an older gentleman came in and asked to swap his stool - the same manager/waitress obliged immediately.

2) We are both vegetarian and checked that the starters did not contain any fish/meat. The starter arrived and there was obviously fish on the plate. I then asked the waitress if we could get another starter as we had specified no fish. She seemed to want us to eat around the fish - an absurd suggestion. 3) We had checked in advance whether it would be possible to interrupt our meal to go and see the fireworks and then return for dessert in case our meal ran late. The restaurant assured us that this would be fine and that it would be open until 1am. When we attempted to do this, we were informed that the manager intended to close at 12am and we might get dessert if we could return to the restaurant by 12.05 though they were unlikely to keep the restaurant open for just a few of us despite us paying £35 for the meal. We had really looked forward to a nice meal in a lively ambience to see out 2009, instead the food and the night was marred by the ridiculous service.

There was also no live entertainment as promised. It is such a such a shame that what seemed like an unusual and enticing restaurant in a prime location was so let down by the incompetence of their manager. We were extremely short-changed and did not protest nearly enough as we should have done for want of having an enjoyable evening. I would strongly urge anybody looking to go to this particular branch to avoid it - don't let it ruin your evening.

I should not have tried their "banana cake" at £3 a slice.

It was basically a madeira cake, but very dry with sour chunks of banana at the bottom of the cake.

unfortunately i have to give this place a poor review.

i recently have had several of my lunch breaks ruined by this 'restaurant'.

the staff are terrible...and would appear not to know what communication is, the food is either stale or so greasy that it is inedible.

watch out!

When Del Aziz first opened we were delighted to have a deli style place to buy a nice lunch. The food was nice and the atmosphere friendly. The food is now mostly cafeteria style (sitting there for hours) servery, the portions no longer generous let alone consistent. The service now is appaling, recently I have witnessed several of the staff being verbally abused by the mean little lady who seems to run the place. There is also a language barrier between staff members which seems to result in lots of yelling from the open plan highly stressed kitchen.

Add to this today I paid for my take-away lunch only to be told that they did not have time to make it for me because the kitchen was busy and I had not spent over £5.00. I was given my money back out of the till as they took someone elses larger order and made to feel unwelcome, cheap and unvalued. This is one regular customer who will not be returning but instead taking my lunch money to the other stores surrounding that understand about customer service and loyal customers.

It was Friday lunchtime, it was halloween, several large tables reserved for office parties but the service was excellent. The waiting staff were all attentive, came to the table immediately they were summoned whether or not it was their station and after we explained that my daughter was on a restricted lunchbreak the food arrived promptly, as did the desert. The food was very good, reasonably priced and freshly cooked according to my instructions. The wine list had a good selection of wines from a reasonable range of countries. My only criticism would be the cost of the wine but then this is a standard criticism of all London restaurants. Hopefully next time we may have more time to enjoy the atmosphere, the more exotic dishes and the ambience as well as the food and wine.

I am cofused. I have been going to delaziz since opening recently. while I can understand the delay some people may have had with the service time.....specialy at lunch when the place is 'ramed packed' by what I can persume happy customers, I have never experienced bad service quality. Being the carnivor I am The 1/2 pound burgers are top class, and the lamb kebabs huge and tender. Oh and my girl sitting next to me says try their persian bamie stew its great...she is a vegi...dont ask me why.

It is a pity I cannot give this restaurant no stars! My parents were visiting from overseas and we decided to have dinner close to where they were staying. There were 9 of us and I have to say that this was the worst service I have ever had in London. Our mezze platter arrived half an hour after ordering, with the 2 bottles of wine arriving 10 minutes after that. Our meals arrived at our table and the mezze plates had not been cleared. We ordered another bottle of red wine, which was corked. However when we asked for another bottle we were told there was "nothing wrong with that bottle and we shouldn't make a fuss". I might add in here that my partner has worked in wineries in since he was 14 and is well aware of what a corked bottle is. No apology was given. The same waitress kept elbowing one of our party members as she walked past - no apology here either! We risked ordering a couple of biscuits to share at the end of the meal, one of which was stale!!! Thankfully we avoid the above mentioned waitress and went straight to the Chef, who agreed with us!A very disappointing evening meal. Not somewhere I will ever go again! Be warned!!

My first visit to Del Aziz was a pleasant experience and I was happy to find such a place in the newly developed Bankside area. However upon my return last night with group of friends I was shocked at the appalling service. It took an half an hour for our first drinks to arrive and it was an hour before all drinks arrived (not to mention the delay in the bread etc that we ordered). No apologies were made by the waiting staff or manager - apparently it was simply to be expected because they were busy and we had ordered cocktails. An apology or acknowledgement of the poor service would have appeased us however the managers hardline that they had done no wrong was hard to comprehend.
