Arrived with my friend at 7.30 tonight. We were practically dragged in through the door to an otherwise empty restaurant. By 8pm, having barely started on our wine and poppadoms we were practically asked to leave as it was rugby night and expected to be busy!!! The waiter obviously couldn't get us out quickly enough as the restaurant started to fill up. Plates were removed as soon as we had taken the last forkful from them and we were presented with the bill instead of a desert menu. Such a shame that they want to make a fuss of visiting rugby fans and not look after locals who may have returned had the service been better!! Not this couple!! Food wasn't even that great either. There are plenty of places to eat in this quaint little road. If you want some good advise - find an alternative to Delhi Durbar.

We went in a group to Delhi Durbar yesterday evening and from the moment we sat down to the moment we left, the service was simply atrocious. We were either totally ignored by the staff or they were taking away unfinished items. The man who took our order was incredibly surly and his desperate attempts to up-sell extras was so blatant as to be quite amusing - he almost refused to accept the fact that we had ordered more than enough rice/naan/extra dishes yet we had to ask for some items five times before they arrived. At one point we all felt we had to protect any unfinished dishes when a waiter walked past in case he took it away without us noticing!
Having said that, the food was very good so if you don't mind risking really bad service then you may enjoy it but I think there are more than enough alternative Indian restaurants in Twickenham that do equally good food with far better service.

This is my favourite Indian restaurant in Twickenham/ Richmond/ South West in general.
The food is totally amazing and authentic, each curry tastes differently, looks differently , is garnished differently and is really interesting and delicious. We have a lot of Indian and Sikh friends who love this restaurant.
The staff is always very caring and attentive, they know us by our first names but we come at least once a month and have been doing for the last 8 years so they know us well.
The decor is a bit...don't know...maybe a bit strange with the dimmed windows, but the food makes up for it 100 times over.
Never managed to have a dessert there because I'm totally stuffed by the end of the meal - can't comment on that.
Prices are very reasonable.
Highly recommend! Really great restaurant.
BUT don't go on a rugby night...they have a different menu, lots of people pushing and shoving (as in any other restaurant in Twickenham on a rugby night) and the whole experience may be a bit overwhelming.

Disappointing experience at the Delhi Durbar.

Food was OK but the service was atrocious.

Hurried along and was given the impression they wanted you out as quickly as possible.

Drinks taken away that weren't finished and having to request them back whilst no single waiter seemed to have an understanding of our orders. Having to ask twice, often three times for the same thing.

There are much better curry spots in Twickenham - this one is best swerved.
