I had my birthday party there on Saturday the 23rd of July 2011 and what a superb venue in every way! The venue is absolutely gorgeous with inside and outside space. The staff, from Top Management to bar staff, were very professional, extremely accomodating and friendly with excellent 5 star service the entire evening. I must say, I could not have been an easy client as I got private hire, had a bouncy castle set-up outside, had all the guests dressed up as Cartoon characters, organised a dj with lights and kept the staff awake and going for a full 12 hours! From every aspect, I will highly recommend Dockmasters House and honestly wish it could be packed and busy every weekend as it is otherwise such a waste for such a beautiful place. My only negative point would be the fact that they don't sell Jaeger Bombs! Thank you for a fabulous evening!
clueless staff, very slow service, food was ok but nothing to rave about, our table of 4 ordered different curries and we could not tell them apart, looks like they use one sauce for the lamb and chicken. The prawn curry was the only decent one. Expensive and really not worth the effort, you can find much better places in the center of Canary Wharf.
worst service ever
was served by an arrogant , miserable blonde lady who encompassed everything a waitress should not be
I'm really a bit surprised at some of the negative reviews. When I went, the staff was friendly and helpful and the food comfortably getting the balance right: being a lot more healthy, and tasty then a "greasy curry" and the place less intimidating and cooking more solid then a high-end Michelin starred Indian place. Overall a very pleasant experience - and with the viewcard (or similar) offers, it's a great place for an evening meal.
I just thought somebody should post a very positive review for this restaurant. We went in Friday evening for ameal, we had taken a voucher along from Top Table or City Eating, for 50% off.
The service was outstanding, we were treated as well as any family run restaurant I've been in. First impressions for the restaurant may be that its set in such a fantastic and imposing building that it may not be friendly. But it certainly was.
I had the kebab platter for starters, which was outstanding. The selection of meats were beautifully cooked and very tender. The ginger lamb chop was exceptional.
For mains I had the prawn moilee, which was presented beautifully and tasted just as good. Four large prawns cooked just right to give a nice texture.
To cap the evening off, we were given complementary chocolates and a rose for the lady. (as it was near Valentines).
The bill came to £55, for two of us, starter and main with a bottle of wine.
You can spend that on a bog standard ruby down Brick lane that's simply not in the same league.
I've only been to the Dockmasters twice, but both times have surpassed my expectations.
Don't read the bad reviews and discard this place. Make your own mind up, don't let somebody else tell you what to think.

I dined at this restaurant last night and found the decor & food especially good.
The waiter staff on the other hand are a complete Joke, you almost get the impression that they would prefer not to be there. They made 2 mistakes with the food orders, took 40 minutes to get still water despite being reminded three times.
Finally, a couple came into the restaurant at about 10.30pm, the waiters told them that they would have to order their starters and main course together to save time, they were dissatisfied and asked that the waiter check with the kitchen staff.
The waiters went to the kitchen, where they remained for a lengthy period of time - the couple eventually left! The waiters then returned to the floor.
Upon discovering that the couple had left they went back to the klitchen and started screaming and shouting 'thank god they left' they were even doing HIGH FIVES!!!
With the kitchen door open!! We brought our discontent to the staff (after we paid the bill, this was not an attempt to get a discount) who rolled his eyes, made a sarcastic noise with his mouth and huffed and puffed until I asked to see the Manageress.
The manageress came over, I expressed my concern and she apologised. It felt that this was not the only type of complaint that she had recieved of this nature and in honesty I got the impression that she knew it wouldnt be the last.
I appreciate that all new restaurants go through teething periods, however if this restaurant wants to be taken seriously in a very critical marketplace I suggest they get a strong restaurant manager who can raise the standards to match the exquisite decoration.A real disappointment!
I do not normally review restaurants , but having have visited Dockmasters on several occasions I was surprised to discover on line several damning reviews. Not my experience at all. I have found the food good and tasty, the service excellent and the ambiance great. Eating outside in the garden in the summer months has been a real pleasure. Recommended as one of the best place around Canary Wharf, in my experience.
You only have to look at the pictures of this restaurant to see what a fabulous historic building this is - with an added contemporary twist.
What a fabulous fit out. As for the waiting staff, this is another matter. Rude, obnoxious and arrogant are just a few words to describe them.
We really couldn't believe it.Then our eating experience only got worse when the food finally arrived.
This must of been the worst Indian we have ever tasted. If only it matched the beautiful decoration.
A very expensive evening but not very enjoyable. Would not recommend this to anyone.
