I took my girlfriend here - our second visit. There is a pleasant ambiance and the staff are very friendly.
Fortunately we weren't in any hurry because although not particularly busy at the time, the service and delivery of the food was slow. My girlfriend had a pasta dish which she enjoyed, however I was very disappointed with my pizza which was small and certainly didn't live up to the recommendations of some of the other reviewers - I am suspicious!
We had a main course and a desert each, shared a bottle of Italian red and had a liquor to finish. The bill that came seemed rather high at £96 but when I checked it over we had been over-charged by approx £16. Even though it took 2 goes before they got the bill correct they didn't feel it necessary to apologise.
It is a pleasant enough little restaurant, but certainly not as special as some make out - and be careful to check the bill.
We went last Saturday and we were quite disappointed.
The quality is fine but portion are small and over price (5 pounds for child size potatoes saute is a joke). Same for pizza. Good Napoli style but try the one at Al Forno (richer, more topping) where you do not leave the place still hungry(well if you do not spend 40quid).
Plus the waiter was anything but happy to see us.
I suggest to try Mascalzone and Al Forno in Putney and leave Donna Margarita to middle class.
Not impressed - first of all I would not consider this the best pizza in London - Eco in Clapham Common has much better pizza. Also was over charged on the bill then when they gave us the correct bill we found that we had been charged £2.50 each for a glass of coke? The waiters barely speak english so service wasn't the best either don't know whose has been writing all these reviews but I'm beginning to think that they are not all kosher.
We had a group of about 14 or 15 here a couple of weeks back on a Saturday night, and we had a great time!
To be fair, from the outside it doesn't look like the best place in the world, but once you're inside. the staff were really friendly, the menu had a great choice, and all reasonably priced.
A lot of us had pizza's which were all great - one of the nicest I have ever had! Others had pasta, and risotto's, and not a complaint about any of them
All made for a great evening in a restaurant that feels like a bigger version of your mum's kitchen!
Only downside was that we could only get 8 people on a table due to space limitations, but it was no big deal.
Will certainly be back soon
When we arrived at Donna Margherita we found straightway a great ambience, the service was fast ,and all the staff sympathetic and friendly with us .
The food at Donna Margherita is lovely and tasty at the sometime , and it's served in huge portions then the pizzas are fantastic with generous toppings and nice thin bases.
It` is great value for money Would definitely go back again
i really enjoyed the all experience the staff was very friendly and the food was
very Italian what i mean is that pasta was very aldente and the pizza was very light
which it means that the preparation is like in Italy!!
if you are looking to taste the real Italian food then you should go to Donna Margherita and you will be delivered the real authentic Italian food.
Is a great place where you can feel like "at home"....Service and pizzas ar great!!!
