Got a takeaway on the 23/08/11 and it was the worse Indian curry i have ever eaten, i throw most of it away. I have been going for a number of years, but stopped because food was awful, saw 1 of the waiters a few months later and he said they changed cooks, i tried again and food was nice, but food now is awful, i am indian myself and know what a good curry is, I would never eat in this Restaurant again
Visited with my girlfriend last night. Very disappointed from start to finish. The service was bordering on the uncomfortable. No attempt to make any rapport with the customer. To be honest we should have walked out before ordering. My starter of Prawn Puree was soggy.
The mains were probably the worst two curries we've had at an Indian restaurant. We ordered a Biryani which was greasy with a funny aftertaste. We had specifically asked for the sauce to be hotter than normal, however what came was bland without any spice at all. The other main was a Chicken Bhuna which came in a bland tomato sauce also with no spice. You could barely call it a curry! We complained about both dishes and the waiter replaced the biryani sauce and made it more spicy but there wasn't any actual flavour. After this had been replaced, we were forced to eat whilst being stared at by the waiter who didn't even ask how our food was.
To be fair they did give us a 10% discount on our bill, but we ought to have gone to one of the many other eating options on Drummond Street instead. Will not be returning.
Quite possibly the worst indian restaurant i have been to in London. For drinks, my girlfriend and i ordered two mango lassis, which were not only overpriced, but clearly out of date. In fact i can remember it also had a taste of curry powder in, which is fine if you were eating some kind of curry, but this was a damn drink!!
This level of quality carried onto the starters and mains. For Starters we ordered the tandoori mix platter and the main consisted of parantha with Korai Chicken. The meat was rubbery, most likely coming straight out of a microwave. The sauce was surpsingly fine, although the accompanied yogurt that comes with the dish was again sour like it was left out in the sun for a year,
Please dont look go by the fake lukewarm reviews seen on various websites. The quality of this restaurant is appalling and better options exist in the area.
Great food, Great Value. Have been to Drummond Villa 6 times now and the food and service keeps me going back. I've took a few friends for a meal and we all found the service friendly and attentive and the food was like Indian food should be....delicious. Definitely one not to miss!

I went to Drummond Villa restaurant on 13th January 2011.I was just passing by at 8 pm and saw the restaurant was packed.Since me and my girlfriend were looking for dinner we got into this place. It was a bit dark inside but the table presentation was very nice. They also had a TV for customers. They put on the football game on it.I am very interested in football so i enjoyed it.We were served very quickly by the staff to a nice table. There was a young waiter who asked about the drinks and bought us some Papadums very quickly. All the waiters were very friendly and looked very smart. We ordered the Drummond Special for two persons. It included two starter Onion Bhaji and Shammi Kebab. The main course had Sag Aloo,Chicken Bhuna, Prawn Dupiaza, Pilau Rice and Nun Breads. It was too much for both of us.The food was very nice.We also had deserts and coffee as part of our meal.I would recommend people to visit this place and try the Drummond Special.I am definitely going to this place with my friends.Good Luck Drummond Villa.
Surprised by the bad reviews, as I had a very good experience at Drummond Villa. I ordered a king prawn balti, and was certainly impressed. Firstly, the naan was very good. Secondly, the king prawns were soft, seemed fresh, and delicately cooked - very nicely done indeed. The balti was delicious, very full flavoured with ginger, garlic & tomato - a tangy, satisfying sauce. If you go for a curry you want big flavours, and this dish did not disappoint. House red and side order of dry vegetables were OK, and my friend enjoyed her prawn jalfrezi. Service was politle and friendly. Overall, I'd be happy to go back, as if a curry house gets prawns right, that always earns points in my book.
Quite the worst Indian meal I have ever had. The veg dishes tasted as though a pinch of curry powder off the supermarket shelf had been sprinkled on them. The 'Madras' was half a dozen tiny pieces of chewy lamb floating in a vaguely spicy tomato sauce. They even managed to spoil the beer. It came out of a bottle but the glass tasted so strongly of washing up liquid I couldn't taste much else.
£6 for a main dish consisting of barely 50p of ingredients and desultory service is abominable. They don’t ask if you’ve enjoyed your meal because a) they don’t actually care and b) they already know the answer.
Just popped in to this place looking forward to a nice curry. I could not have been more disappointed.
We ordered a mixture of side dishes rather than a curry and the portions were the smallest that i have ever had at an indian restaurant.
Really they were tiny! I mentioned to the waiter and he was amused at my surprise and said that it was because the food was organic (which it isn't).
The sag bhaji was cold, the tarka dahl had way too much oil in and despite ordering the medium heat bombay aloo they bought the hot one that was way too hot (spicy) to eat.
They did change the dahl and potatoes when i asked. I would like to say that what little we were given was good but it was not well flavoured either.
I have never had the urge to write a bad review (or any review) of a restaurant before but this place so annoyed me that i felt i should warn people.
Oh and £3.20 for 2 poppadoms anyone? Ridiculous.
Avoid at all cost if you don't want to feel ripped off. Wanted to rate as no stars but one seems to be the minimum.
I had a couple of good meals here some five years ago. My wife and I returned in July 2007 - she had a satisfactory chicken dish whilst I chose a Lamb Pasanda (both from the "house specials" list).
I have never eaten anything so devoid of taste! The meat was tasteless - the sauce was tasteless - a difficult feat with Indian cuisine. The Cobra Beer (£3.50 per bottle) had considerably more flavour.
I communicated the fact to two waiters who showed little interest - one exerted himself to say "Oh - well - perhaps next time ..." There will be no next time for me.
I’d heard great things about Drummond Villa but took ages to get round to visiting. Unfortunately, I can’t say it was worth the wait. The food was ok, but the service was just passable – it seemed as if the Drummond Villa staff just didn’t care if we were happy or not. Could do better.
Drummond Villa has become our take away of choice recently. It's in a really convenient spot for us and we've never had a bad dish from there.
Drummond Villa's a great little Indian place, just as good as anything you'd find down Brick Lane!
