We went to Eat East on a very cold, Sunday night. The restaurant was very cosy and really well decorated. We were greeted by some nice friendly staff who were very attentive without being overbearing. My two companions went for the Chefs Hors D'oeuveres which they said were the best they had had in a long time. I had the vegetarian spring rolls which were the best I had tasted, with an absolutely lovely dipping sauce, which was just that bit more unusual than your usual sweer and sour sauces.
For mains my companions had meat dishes, one beef and one duck. The portions were just the right size as they felt full up without feeling bloated. I had a vegetarian dish with mushrooms and seasonal veg, which again came in just the right portion size. One thing I was impressed with was the range of vegetarian food. I often find it quite difficult to eat in restaurants and get bored with the same old thing but the breadth of range of veggie dishes was a breath of fresh air.
One other nice thing was that we ordered three portions of rice but were advised two would be enough and if we wanted more all we had to do was ask. It just shows that they are more concerned with quality of food rather than just trying to get you to spend as much money as possible.
Something we did do was have a dessert which is unheard of for us. We highly recommend the chocolate ice cream, which had lovely choc chips in it!
All in all we had a really nice night and would take people back there. Because of its location I think this is a venue that will build on word of mouth rather than passing trade but if Sunday was anything to go by they will have no problems there.
