We tried EDO based on the strength of the reviews on this website and others so ordered a home delivery. I can only imagine that most of the reviews were written by the owners themselves.

We were first struck by how small the portions were. This turned out to be a blessing. The food was incredibly poor quality -- the chicken was fatty, gristly and poorly prepared. Chicken teriyaki should be skinless but it seemed that at least half of the meat content was just the skin. There were even hairs still on the chicken skins. Only the lowest grade ingredients are being used here. The only plus was that delivery was prompt but to be honest, I'd rather it hadn't turned up at all.

Overpriced and awful food. By far the worst Japanese food I've ever eaten.

Really nice food, great service, but far too expensive. I know that Japanese food is generally really expensive, but I don't think Edo reflects the average price of food in Crystal Palace. I think they would do well if they offered a lunchtime menu and generally upped their game, but nice food none-the-less.

We went to Edo for lunch while visiting our friend in Crystal Palace, as we do enjoy our Japanese. From the outside it didn't look the most appealing however that was short lived after being seated by the very welcoming and helpful waitress. It's great toward the back of the restaurant, the menu is vast with great variety (even for our very picky friends) and came done very well with great presentation. The prices are what you'd expect for a Japanese, we left very pleased and even had the door held open for us on our exit. If only we lived closer! Make sure you stop by this restaurant, you'll be very thankful you did.
