First off I must explain that I do not complain or write reviews about bad service. However last nights experience of Ed's Diner in Picadilly left a bad taste in my & my friends mouths. There were 7 of us & we had decided to go there for a bite to eat after our friends enagement party. None of us had eatin & so we all quite hungry. We thought it would be fun to go to Ed's for that diner experience. We Had made a large order. Unfortunately they had left my burger off. By the time I had enquired patiently about this, some of my friends were half way through their food. I explained this to the waiter & he went off to check. He did not come back to me to explain or apologise. I had to catch his eye before he signalled to me it was coming. I thought fine, I won't make a scene. By the 3rd time I had enquire where my food was 2 of my friends had finished theirs. As I'm sure most people would be, I was not happy about this, however while I said to the waiter this was unacceptable, which it was, I in no way raised my voice to him. The manager then stepped in & told me to calm down & said I was being rude & would kick me out if I didn't calm down. Incredibly shocked by this I asked the manager if he thought this was a reasonable level of customer service. I wasnt blaming the waiter but the service had so far been below par. The manager replied that he wasn't interested. By this point 2 of my other friends stepped in & told the manager he was being incredibly rude & patronising & proceeded to remind the manager about customer service. I must point out at this point I had yet to receive an apology for my missing burger. The manager then threatend to throw us out. I then asked for his full name & his head office contact details to whiandre refused to give his surname & was again incredibly rude about giving me their head offices details.Left a sour taste. Needless to say I will never be going back to Eds and hope no one else does either. I never even got my burger either
I have never written a review for a restaurant but I felt compelled to write one for Ed's Easy Diner.
I am usually one of those people who 'if I don't have anything nice to say, I won't say anything at all' but I think it's important to warn potential customers not to come here unless they want to have their night completely ruined.
I decided to take my boyfriend here last Friday night as a little treat as he'd just got his Masters results (a distinction) and I wanted us to try something gastronomically diverse to what we usually go for (either Maccy D's or Italian restaurants). I did a bit of research mainly through this website and google and after looking at the menu on Ed's website I decided to go.
We had to wait outside the restaurant for about 10/15 minutes, which although we were hungry, we didn't mind too much as it was a Friday night. However, when we reached the front of the queue the host didn't greet us properly and was extremely rude. Seeing that there was nobody behind me and my boyfriend in the queue and that a booth table was about to be vacated, I politely asked the host if we could possibly sit there to have a bit of privacy (the other option was sitting on a stool at the bar) and he aggressively replied 'I'll seat you where I seat you'', so I promptly left. Now, I understand that Friday nights can be stressful as I used to work in a popular restaurant but there was really no excuse for the way he spoke to me.
So don't go here if you value politeness. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the food as I was deprived of the opportunity to try it!
Truly awful experience.
Overpriced food with absolutely no taste and rude staff.
Left me with bad taste in my mouth and a stomach ache.
One to be avoided.
i do like eds however the last couple of times i have been its been a real let down, this could perhaps be because it was saturday at around 8 but still not the usual good food and service i have had in the past...
yet you cant go wrong with their banana milkshakes they are perfection!
I would only ever go to this place if you have kids and young ones at that. The service is excellent, especially the American, I presuming he is Ed himself. I don’t know how authentic the food is but the décor looks pretty good with lots of chrome and jukeboxes. In and out in 20 minutes having had two courses and fairly satisfied, well the kids were, that’s not bad.
When you go to Ed's Easy Diner make sure you try one of their generous malt shakes. Just like the ones you got at the corner store. Ed's is pretty intimate and the decor is nice.
