I can only assume the good reviews were written by the owners.

The decor is dreadful, dated and tatty. The toilets very unpleasant.

The food basically all tastes of stale cooking oil. Even the mezze plate was weird - little squiggles of insipid dips, accompanied by some kind of vegetable prawn cocktail and disgusting liver.

The main courses inedible - fat and gristle dominated.

I eat turkish food regularly and this is the worst i have ever had.

Been going to Efes for many years now with family, work and friends. This restaurant is a family and friendly atmosphere. Over the years it is nice to be remembered when I go. Therefore having old staff helps.

Would like to say there is more to Turkish food than Kebab therefore I enjoy exploring with Efes Restaurant menu.

They are able to cater for special occasions also. I had my engagement party there. My valentines dinner was also special for me at this restaurant.

This restaurant is unique that holds a traditional atmosphere for all customers. Would recommend to everyone especially if you have not tried Turkish food.

Never, ever, go to this restaurant!

I went there last night for the first time.
The food was rotten. I pointed this out to the waiter and when the manager came over to talk to us, he was almost angry at me for having pointed this out.

He asked me what I suggest he do, and why was I complaining! He then proceeded to explain to me that it is because they have lots of meals to prepare and don't have the time to check every one before they were served.

In general, before the vine leaves arrived, the service was very poor, and surly. The decor of the restaurant is so dated, and the toilets are filthy.

Efes 1 has a real friendly atmosphere – great for groups. The rustic menu is good to pick at and the atmosphere is so relaxed it’s great for celebrating birthdays or office dos. Efes I is a real find.

I think I've been going to Efes 1 for about ten years now. Some of the waiters are still the same which is a bit scary. The lamb is good and so tender. Efes 1 also does an excellent cheese board.
