I had heard good things about Emandel and was looking forward to trying this cosy looking restaurant. The reality was very disappointing. On a Monday evening almost all steak and all but one fish dish were unavailable. Almost every wine was also unavailable. I plumped for Tomato soup for starter which was barely hot, almost certainly out of a tin and came with a tough little roll. The rest of my party were also not pleased with their starters; midget king prawns, mushrooms drenched in butter and a very unappetising salad. Mains were no better. My pizza was definitely a pre-made base which was like cardboard and I actually have a blister from cutting it! Others had overcooked pasta, overcooked meat - nothing was presented in a pleasant way. The lamb chops I'm told were very nice. The manager was pretty rude and made some very inappropriate personal remarks to one of my colleagues (our CEO in fact!) To compensate for the very truncated menu we were offered two bottles of Barollo for £60 (instead of £94!!), but it was fairly ordinary and I would have been gutted had I been paying! All in all I can't believe we had a fluke bad night, this place is awful and I will not return.

Emandel is a gem in Richmond. Every single dish our table ordered was of such high quality that we were soon left annoyed that we hadn't tried Emandel before. Easily of equal quality to restaurants that cost a lot more.
