It was beautiful sunny afternoon, we visited the connaught hotel in Mayfair where we expected excellent afternoon tea. The room is very nice, discreet something special. First,we had quite big sandwiches. They are ok. Nice volume, maybe to big. Specially egg one like a burger. Next, we tried scone with dried apricot. They were very hard, dry and heavy. Again the size was massive bargain. The cakes! They were exactly the same cake which we had at plaza Athene in Paris. Mmmmm, this pastry chef is from plaza Athene? But it was not tasty the original one. The blueberry cake was shrunk , twisted and dry. The chocolate cake is ok too sweet though. At the end huge chocolate and raspberry rose sliced cakes. Huge! They want to challenge by the quantity not quality. The connaught hotel afternoon tea, pay for the room not for sweets. I would never go again.
