Horrible and overpriced!
The scallop start cost a whooping £8.50 but we got 3 little pieces which didn't taste of much.
My main dish (haddock with poached egg, potatoes etc) was bland and and I must say could even be considered disgusting but I managed to slowly shove it all down my throat considering I was pretty hungry.
We were saved by the beer batter fish and chips which my girlfriend ordered! Hooray - but not much to celebrate considered it was no better than your standard chippy but 3 x the price.
We knew the menu was pretty pricey but thought we should give ourselves a treat but what a disappointment!
I had previously read all the reviews (not so good in most cases!) but was willing to give it a try - all I can say is complete waste of time and £80 for 2 people! Never had anything so unappealing, with lack of presentation skills and just totally unjustifiable for the price! We ordered the scallops (£8.50) and calamari for starters (£7.50) and for main we ordered the 'special seafood platter for 2' mind you we didn't want the mussels, clams, cockles or oysters so we asked for these to be replaced with more of the stuff we liked - prawns and crevettes as well as 2 sides (chips and roasted vegetables) at £3.50 each! We were getting a bit peckish waiting so we ordered a breadboard too - £1.75 for the equivalent of 1 small roll with some mayonnaise and salsa verdi - when the food came, we were shocked to say the least - the restaurant claimed it was a 'spectacular mixture of the freshest hot and cold seafood - *news flash*frozen half crab is not fresh, neither is it spectacular! The only saving grace on this 'spectacular platter was the bass and organic salmon - the cold crevettes had their very dark veins still in them - eurrgh and the scallops were only slightly larger than a 50p coin in width, the so called roasted vegetables were more charred than roasted - all in all a very bad night for my husband and I. So will I go there again - never, will I recommend to a friend - not A chance, won't even recommend to my worst enemy ( don't have any!). An overpriced restaurant that under delivers! Next time I will trust the reviews!

Dreadful - hideously overpriced and very poorly cooked.
Lemon sole, 3 side dishes and a bottle of wine - £80 A rip-off.
The sole was very overcooked - the side dishes (5 boiled potatoes, a couple of lettuce leaves and some raw spinach with a few pinenuts) must have cost 50p and they charged over £12
Have had some great meals at Fishworks in years gone by, here and in Bath, Marylebone and Notting Hill - will definitely not be going back - the fish is definitley not the freshest either - I know that they suffered financially and costs have been cut back - but when that goes through to quality, the punters talk with their feet.
Fishworks is great - that's if you like fish. If you don't then you shouldn't be looking at reviews of restaurants with Fish in the title.
The freshest stuff around is served here, in basic, understated yet stylish surrounds.
The specials board changes very regularly and often sells out so get your order in sharpish.
Service is superb, have even had a waiter call someone who had booked but was late to see if I could get their table. Hence, always book. Prices are mid-range, nothing excessive, and well worth it. There's also a late-opening fishmonger out the front and a cookery school upstairs.
I love fish restaurants and I was not dissapointed with Fishworks in Richmond. The shellfish I had was simply marvellous. I shall most definitely be going back to the Fishworks Seafood Cafe.
