Visited 5/1/12. Relatively quiet lunchtime visit. Couldn't fault the service and the food was great. Calamari starter £5.95 was superb. Lamb Curry £10.95 was also lovely. Bottle of Pinot Noir Le Fou £22. The total with coffees & cocktail came to £81.10. However there was then a £10.14 service charge added. There was only 3 of us at lunchtime, we didn't take that much looking after! The total bill came came to £91.24. Left feeling a little disappointed
Things have gone downhill at Foggs since those earlier reviews.
We had (home-made)burger and chips. The portion was on the small side - less than one potato's worth of skinny chips and onions with the burger came as an 'extra' on the menu.
The place was very quiet when we dined but the waitress was still too busy chatting to her friends on another table to bring us our bill or collect payment.
We were in a bit of a hurry so only noticed later that we had been over-charged as well!! Check your bill at Foggs very carefully, particularly the 'discretionary' 12.5% service charge.
Not an experience to repeat. Not recommended. There are much better eateries in the area - try any of them!
My wife recently treated me to a weekend in London, taking in a show. Our Hotel was in the Primrose Hill area, not far away from Chalk Farm Road and Camden.
I had done a little bit of research and Fogg's appeared to be a place that we would enjoy. We were not disappointed!!!
Nice but not over elaborate menu at prices I was presently surprised to see. Living somewhere between Inverness and Aberdeen I would expect to pay something around £15 for a good main and that is exactly what we paid here. (cheaper options available). The highlight was the Ostrich steak ordered by my wife.
I did manage a taste and it was superb. Starters and puds around £5. We had starters and shared cheese at again £5.The food was great but here's the best bit. Front of house service was brilliant.
Tips on how Ostrich should be cooked, excelent. Advice on how best to get to our theatre the following evening spot on!!Let's not forget the free entertainment.
Two guys in Panama hats strumming their guitars and singing as if they really enjoyed it. It certainly suited us. We plan another break in London, if not later this year certainly early 2010. We will go back to Fogg's.
I have only been here once but would thoroughly recommend it. The staff were really great and the food was just delicious, as well as being reasonably priced.
I would definitely make the effort to go here again; one of Camden's better restaurants!
We've been to this place a couple of times, once at the end of the night after lots to drink but they took us in and gave us a great three course meal. we went back another time, sober and it was equally great. really surprising and it doesn't look like much from the outside but lovely food, good staff. yep i'd recommend this one.
Fogg's is great to take children to and, just think, you dont need to find another restaurant for another 80 visits! They have a menu at Fogg's which includes a dish from every place that Phileas Foog visited on his famous world journey.
