This is a great place if you like something a tad more personal than Wagamama's, on the relatively cheap and cheerful scale. Ate here again last night pre-Suede at Academy and it was as good as last half dozen times or so I've been here. Portions are good (if you know what you're ordering) and sufficiently filling but you can always order sides to accompany if feeling particularly ravenous. Kirin and such like £3 a bottle. Get's really busy, which is always a good sign. As for rude, never once found them less than fast, friendly and efficient. My pre-gig restaurant of choice by a mile.
Awful service, mediocre food, hardly a japanese restaurant experience.
Fujiyama appears to model itself on the Wagamama chain of restaurants, but the food here is much better and service is efficient.
It seems previous reviewers haven't understood that as a Japanese restaurant, Fujiyama doesn't do 'starters', it does 'side dishes', which WILL come with your meal. And as all dishes are cooked to order, of course some dishes will arrive sooner than others. Just stop complaining and tuck in!
All in all, a great 'local' restaurant.
Seriously over-rated. I wanted it like it - wagamamas without the branding - but the staff are rude, the food is very sub-standard (and small), badly presented (to the point of unappetising), with a price that suggests something far more than it is. Try the sushi place near the national theatre in waterloo - the real deal!
If you're in Brixton, avoid this.
What a great place! Food is good, price is good and they run a delivery service! Staff are attentive and friendly. Had a great night here and will be going back regularly.
Fujiyama is my favourite restaurant in London and a favourite place to take people who've not been before just to see their reactions as they tuck in. The prices are very reasonable, as are the portion sizes. The menu is extensive, with each section usually listing mild variations on similar dishes, but working your way through the menu is a pleasure.
The sushi is gorgeous as are the other dishes and the strong taste of the constitute ingredients coming through the sauce is a great sign of their freshness. It also means that even fairly standard, simple dishes have a little extra to them making them taste even better.
The prices are incredibly reasonable for what you get and the staff are efficient, yet not rude despite the assumed 10% inclusion of service charge.
I just wish this place had some sort of loyalty card.
Food is nice. Good price.
Shame on the service. They stare at you, clearing up even before u have finished!!
Starters came together with mains= the main gets cold!!
Great food, really cheap but fresh and healthy. And they deliver too. I love it!
The food in Fujiyama is always delicious although sometimes the wait has been a little too long at lunch time. This shows signs of quality food prepared fresh! I'm always more upset when food is presented too fast. Fujiyama is a great restaurant and I will contimue to go there.
I have to take issue with the post slating Fujiyama. I got a takeaway a couple of weeks ago and it was the best damn feed I've had in a long while.
Fujiyama has gone downhill in the past few months, I have been going there for 10 years but in the past 2 months, I have had the bill thrown on my table, been told that I can order a starter but all of the food will arrive at once, waited 15 mins for my main dish whilst my partner eats theirs and been dismissed by the waiter when I've complained. Sadly Fujiyama has become a victim of it's own success...
Fujiyama rocks. It has the best cheap food in London - awesome atmosphere and healthy as well. The Ramen at Fujiyama is worth the trip from North London!
Fujiyama is my fave restaurant of the moment. Really great Japanese food – tasty, low fat and some more interesting options than the norm. Fujiyama rocks.
Fujiyama's is, beyond doubt, the best place for a quick meal in Brixton reflected in the fact that the place is generally pretty busy. The food comes very quickly, but they are happy to let you eat as slowly as you want to. Cheaper than the average meal around and so far everything I have tried from the menu has been good. The staff are very friendly and relaxed and there's an excellent selection of vegetarian options on the menu too. The place certainly has an addictive quality - my friends and I find ourselves going there nearly every week.
Fujiyama is a top restaurant in Brixton if you don't want to spend millions but still have good food.
Fujiyama is quite simply my favourite regular eatery in London. It never lets you down for good service, really excellent grub, a decent drinks menu and a nice atmosphere. Particular favorites are the yaki udon and the salmon teriyaki bento boxes; oh, and sake.
I've been coming here for years and see absolutely no reason in stopping. If you like Wagammamma's et al then come down to SW9 and allow Fujiyama to kick the living sh*te out of their reputations.
