One of three Gallipolis on Upper Street in Islington, this one is the one with the smouldering first date personality.

The Venue
The venue is a dark and sultry room and festooned with lots of hanging atmospheric chandeliers and Turkish globe lights-brass and gleaming copper. The small room has an exotic feeling.

The Atmosphere
In the evenings, Gallipoli Bazaar is made for a first date. From the candlelit tables to the dark, tented wall feeling this is an uber-intimate experience. Huge brass-topped tables add to the spiciness and if you can pick the sofa seating all the better. Service could not be better - true hospitality is on offer here.

The Food
Along with the other two Gallipolis, this one gets the food just right. Good ingredients and good spicing are expertly cooked for just long enough to keep in fresh flavours. From kebabs to mezzes, all your favourites are here. The cacik (yoghurt with garlic) is a really moreish dip and accompanies all the lamb dishes really well. The Turkish sausage and the aubergine dishes pack a lovely smoky flavour. The chopped salad is far from boring and generously sprinkled with parsley. Do leave room for lovely baklava and cream filled apricots dusted with pistachios. All the food is authentic in that you would get this standard not only in Turkey but also in a Turkish home, so you know it’s good. Sharing dishes is a pleasure here.

The Drink
Raki (Turkish Pernod) goes down easily. Otherwise, usual wines and beers are available on demand.

The Last Word
Gallipoli Bazaar is just like a lovely long kiss - and you may well get one after a dinner here.
