The ViewLondon Review
Gaucho Grill is an Argentine gem in the heart of the City. The VenueThis Gaucho Grill location is near Finsbury Square amidst plenty of restaurants competing for the attention of City diners. The entrance is a bit like the Canary Wharf tube station but you’ll need more than your oyster card to pay the bill here. Downstairs it’s a mixture of plush seats and small round tables that can be uncomfortable if you’re taller than 5’3”.
The AtmosphereIt’s usually busy but the service is first class. The staff really does know their onions and their steaks, and the courses are paced just perfectly so you never feel rushed or overly full.
The FoodIf you want a true taste of Buenos Aires then this is the place. However, don’t expect Buenos Aires prices as the bill will set you back at least £40.00 a head. Starters include tasty empanadas which are similar to pasties. For mains, the lobster is succulent, but if you’re a steak or monkfish fan then be sure to order that for a delicious treat. Burgers are also recommended, but beware the price – nearly £15.00 and that’s without chips.
The DrinkThere’s a wine list to die for with over 80 reds and whites to meet everyone’s needs. Don’t just stop at the wine list though, as Gaucho Grill caters for cocktail fans. The mojitos with aged rum are particularly recommended.
The Last WordGaucho Grill is a great place to take someone you love, someone you want to love, or a business client who deserves a treat. You may need a large drink to get over the shock of the bill, but it’s well worth it.
