Decided to try Gaucho Grill on a Friday night with some friends from abroad who needed to be shown the better half of London. Was about the only place where a week's notice for a table was no problem.

Despite arriving late the table was prepared and ready to go, had a drink in the bar beforehand though and it was very lively with a mixed bunch of characters. The vodka martini cocktail was quite revolting though, think vodka mixed with water and you're wincingly there.

The restaurant has a very pleasant dimmed decor, with comfortable seating and the occasional bit of cowhide upholstery to add to the gaucho theme. Food was very good - great steaks, cooked just as you'd expect, great peppercorn sauce, great sea bass and delicious vegetable sides.

At £35 per head (without a bottle of plonk) it was also reasonably priced for this part of town. The service however was not the greatest - took a while for the waiter to come to take the order (in fact, had to be called over, don't you just hate that?) and food took a while. Overall, though, the Gaucho Grill was great.

I enjoyed eating at The Gaucho Grill with my wife and daughter. They did very good steaks, and while not cheap, theye were value for money. The salads and cerviches are varied and excellent, and the starters very tasty indeed and low priced.

The service was good, and I enjoyed learning some Spanish while dining. All London restaurants overcharge on wine but there are some bargains to be had. I'll be back at The Gaucho Grill.

I love a good steak, but the Gaucho Grill chain seem to have something against the bovine brethren. Not only is the menu chock-full of beef bits, but the chairs are covered in cow hide and they sell not only veal, but veal sweetbreads (i.e. testicles). Maybe a cow did something bad to the Gaucho Grill founder when he was a small boy?

After a fantastic visit in London myself and a few friends decided to go to the Guacho Grill.

Ended up at the Kensington restaurant after the one off Piccadilly Circus said there was a 2 hour wait.

This turned out to be a blessing, the atmosphere and service is quite superior to the Swallow Lane restaurant.

Of course we were there for steak and wine, and you get exactly what you order. Cooked to perfection, and great quality steak. Of course the red wine is always going to go well with steak, and I have yet to have a bad wine from their fantastic list. The lower price ones appear to be nearly as good as the more expensive ones as well.

Lovely evening, great food and wine. Happy to recommend. About 30-40 pounds a head.
