When looking out for a great place to dine, this little gem of a restaurant is just a stones throw between Golders Green, Hampstead and Childs Hill. Situated in the rather unexpected part of Finchley Rd, those who know about this restaurant seem to have kept their little secret very well guarded.

Why do I say all this? Well having lived and travelled all throughout England and now residing in London, in modern times places of real charm and warmth especially in the big city seem to be a rare animal indeed.

Giacomo's is not a loud or sterile Italian restaurant. As soon as you walk in through the doors there is a true sense of feeling of being at home or at least in somebody else's home. You can tell the ambience here is to be a romantic, cosy one and have that finer personal touch. Warm greetings and great service by the absolutely charming staff continues the theme throughout and judging by the filled tables even on an early Sunday evening, this restaurant certainly has its fair share of loyal diners.

This brings us onto the food itself where the charm and warmth even extends to the cuisine. This is not like any other Italian restaurant. The dishes I have sampled are definitely all freshly prepared and all possessing that unqiue quality that I can only imagine if I was a traditional Italian myself would make me say "just like mama makes it". For those how like beef or veal, you can't go wrong with any of the selection on the menu though I would personally highly recommend the red wine sauce based dish with mushrooms. There is certainly enough range on the menu to satisfy any fancy.

I could continue to write this review into a lengthy piece but instead I will finish my writings with the conclusion that in today's fast paced life, if you want to go to an Italian restaurant whre you can feel comfortable, at peace and enjoy great homely food at a reasonable price (this is London) then I highly recommend you trying Giacomos. I certainly shall be soon.

Giacomos Restaurant is perfect if you want to impress your lady friend - the setting is very romantic and the staff make it feel even more so. The food is pretty good too - your usual Italian fare very well prepared and presented. I can't really fault Giacomos but i can't really give it five as that would just be madness.
