Booked the Golden Dragon for Sunday Dim Sum, have to say it was great, service was accommodating and food was great as always.
When the bill arrived wow how cheap was that, we were a group of 11 adults and 4 toddlers all stuffed to the eyeballs all at a low cost but excellent quality.....Nice

On visiting London for the first time, my boyfriend and I were looking forward to visiting China Town and sampling some of the well talked about 'dim Sum'. Sadly we arrived at The Golden Dragon just after 5.30pm and were told they had finished serving. As it was so jam packed and hustling with people we assumed it must be one of the more popular restaurants and decided to stay and try the regular menu. We have mixed reviews about Golden Dragon. The service was so so, although always a different person seeing to us right through, although we didn't have to wait too long for our food. The house wine was fine, two out of the three dishes we ordered were delicious ( I would highly recommend the 'beef shank hot pot' ) but one was very basic with under cooked onions.

The at-mo was fine, we were enjoying our dining, having a lovely day when all of a sudden much to our shock and dismay a waiter comes over and picks up one of our dishes and prompts he was about to walk off with it yet it still had some remains of our food on it, I told him to leave it please so he picked up a fork from our table and started to attempt to scrape what was left into my eating bowl! I was absolutely appalled! I was forced to repeat myself again twice 'can u leave it please!' This was very very rude of him and I was left sitting there looking quite flushed. This sort of service is disgusting, he didn't even speak. Then to add insult to injury we were surprised to see they had added a 12.5 tip charge on to our bill. Surely they can't just take this can they?! We will not be returning.

I visited this restaurant 2 days ago with a friend. While dishing out the rice, I was apalled to notice three chips ranging in width from about 2 cm to 2 inches in the rim of the bowl. The bowl was made of some kind of material similar to melamine and was discoloured on the outside, and blackened on the base. It put me off my food. When the waitress came to clear the table, she asked if everything was alright. I said, ''Actually no, I'm apalled to be served food in a bowl in this state. I wouldn't even use this in my own house. It really is unacceptable and insulting.'' Instead of apologizing, the waitress had the audacity to LAUGH! I was not amused. She then proceeded to rip the top tablecloth off the table from under us, even though we still had our full cups of tea and other drinks on the table, and were clearly not finished. I was really annoyed by then. While waiting on the bill to arrive, I happened to glance at the table behind me and noticed that they had a bowl of rice, which on first glance appeared to have a scalloped edge, but then to my horror I realized it wasn't a scalloped pattern, but in fact, was so severely chipped around the perimeter, it appeared to be scalloped! The toilets upstairs were out of order. When we went downstairs, we were approached by a woman who screeched at us '' You want toilet, it is that way'' with a mouth full of food.

I will never dine in that establishment again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. Their lack of respect and service is appalling and completely unacceptable. They also add 12.5% service charge to the bill, when they clearly don't even know the meaning of the word service.

The English people just don't get it. Don't go to a chinese dim sum restaurant for the ambience or outstanding service, it has never been like that.

It's an opportunity to casually catch up with friends or family, eat and socialise at the same time - usually loudly and happily.

We visited this restaurant on last week around 11:10pm, we ask one of the waiter about the closing time before we order the food, he told us the kitchen will close at 12am but we can continue to enjoy our food until we finished, then we only start to order appetiser and main course.

After appetiser came out for 5 minute, they already served us the main course without asked us while we still not finish our appetiser, they put all the main course on the table and go away, that time we just start to eat our appetiser only, if the food put there until we finish our appetiser, all the food must become cold, so we expressed dissatisfaction then they only take back all the main course to the kitchen to keep warm.

When they take back the food go back to kitchen, one of the waiter said:” this is not my responsible”, and then he also said :” normally this treatment for Chinese people is normal and never mind”… we feel angry and no mood to eat after listen what he said.

After we finished appetiser, they served us main course, but all the food was cold. We complained again about the fish dishes, because actually we order whole of the fish, but now it look like all the remains of the fish to cook for us, and its tasted not fresh.

When the supervisor know our dissatisfaction and he come to apologize quickly, that time our disappointed feeling only become better… but at the end of our conclusion is the service is POOR, the food is not fresh and the price is not worth for what you eating! We will never go there again!

I recently went to Golden Dragon and was disappointed. The food was acceptable, but the service was extremely poor.

When the bill came, the server presented me with a bill with a 12.5% service charge. For a the four of us, that was acceptable to me.

However, he then proceeded to ask me for a tip. I told him that a 12.5% service charge was already added.

He told me that I got free fortune cookies and that I should pay him extra on top of the 12.5%. Needless to say, I did not and will never go to Golden Dragon again.

What a busy chinese eatery this is, If you are looking for the hustle and bustle of a traditional Chinese you have come to the right place, it's almost exciting to watch the people move around in there. The layout can be decieving when looking at the bar and kitchen area but it is exactly what I expect to find at a Chinese restaurant. The typical oriental decorations, basic chopsticks and table ware adds the right character for the place. The service is friendly and very prompt however you'll seldom be served by the same server and may feel a little rushed if visiting at the rush hours. The food is great, perfectly sized potions and very flavoursome with something there for everyone, we could not fault their cuisine, and the set menus looked good value. The wine list was what you would expect to find in any restaurant but was nicely priced. A big thumbs up for this place, visited twice in a week end and actually planning to organise a small gathering there, however if you're looking for something with less chatter and clatter or something with a little more swish then this place might not be for you.

I liked this place. Funky decor, more like a bar than a Chinese. The food was good and the bill at the end a very pleasant surprise. Didn't notice the service to be honest, probably becasue I was with the girlies having a good catch-up, but in which case cannot have been bad. The place was busy (it was a Saturday night) with two larges parties. I'd certainly go back again, but bearing in mind the criticism I'd probably have it down as a group venue rather than as a couple.

I went to Golden Dragon on a Friday night. The service was awful even though the restaurant was very quiet. All the staff looked miserable and grumpy. I usually pay by card and leave a cash tip. When I was paying by card the waiter had the nerve to ask where his tip was (even though there is a 10% service charge). Golden Dragon is awful - do not waste your time.

The Golden Dragon looks nice and the staff are so-so, and that would probably how I would describe its food - looks nice, but tastes so-so. For one of the fancier-looking restaurants, I would have expected the Golden Dragon to have a far greater range on the menu, especially its dim sum.

Furthermore, I would have guessed the food would be higher quality. However, it only provides the most well-known of dishes, and even for those who can order in Chinese there certainly was not anything special. It is still popular and it always seems to be buzzing, so it can't be all bad, but this place is unlikely to be a restaurant which you will return to after the first couple of visits.

If you're after a relaxing dinner, I'd give Golden Dragon a wide berth. Not only is the decor bright enough to blind you, but the staff are obviously on some health kick - dashing around like they're burning the calories - making it hard to strike up a rapport.
The Golden Dragon does good food - it's just at a too fast speed.

Booked a table for 1pm for a nice lunchtime date.

Arrived at 1pm and was put in a crowded corner.

Sat for 15 minutes while other people were seated.

Got given a large table for which a walkie talkie would have been useful to speak with my date.

Food OK, otherwise forget it - I won't be returning.

Appalling service, rude staff, everything that you wouldn't expect from a Chinese restaurant. Food is average.
