Service with a scowl !! Began clearing dishes when we hadn't yet finished eating, and did not stop when I showed disapproval; waiter grunted and carried on! Not a smile from anybody just grunts and finger pointing. Food was average. Just an apalling restaurant and spoilt the day out with my 8yr old daughter. Leave well alone people !

On reading the appalling reviews on here I felt the need to give my own.

I have eaten at most chinese restaurants serving dim sum (which is many of them) in chinatown and this is my favourite.

The selection is far and above the usual standard (which isn't usually much better than the frozen stuff you can get to heat up at home). A special mention for their Siu Mai (b/f's fave) which, unlike some places contains proper chopped pork and not that sausage-like sludge some places do. The quality was comparable to my stay in HK a few years back which makes sense as apparently thats where the chef came from.

Their Dim Sum prices are reasonable, we're usually pretty full on £10/12 a head.

I can't say I've ever had a problem with their service- it's quite brusque but mostly polite. We're recognised regulars though so maybe this affects our treatment? One thing that does bother me a little; their air con always makes the restaurant feel a bit chilly, even in summer. Not great when you're trying to have a relaxing lunch.

As for their a la carte menu- I can't really comment on that as I've never eaten from it. I can well believe it's not up to much- that's not unusual in chinatown. When you find a good place (which I have) you should stick to it. Oddly i find that the cheaper places are often best (I've been going to Wong Kei's on Wardour street for years for non dim sum eats and Jen cafe on little Newport street's fresh beijing dumplings are fab!) Stay away from the all you can eat buffet's for a start!

Couldn't agree with you more!

I was introduced to this establishment a few years ago by a Chinese colleague and have returned many times since.

Agree with you about the pricing, £10-12 per head on the Dim Sum is about right.

The Dim Sum is great, we normally go on a Sunday, but get there early otherwise it's hard to get a tale as the Chinese have nabbed them all!

My son's birthday this week and he's specifically requested that we go there for Dim Sum as his birthday outing.

Went out 19\03\11 the service was appalling, food was cold and as other reviewers state food was microwaved. The decor is terrible and the place needs a good clean, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Went to Restaurant Saturday night. Service was rude and nonchlant, food was cold, really cold. When sent back, it was returned microwaved. Waiter, when asked, said so!!. Refused to accept it, when paid for starter and wine, had the nerve to charge 10% service charge. Manager was not a lot better than waiter, place was full. There must have been other people in there who was not happy with there food. why do they remain silent. Sandra Richards

Shame I can't give ZERO stars!

Service - what service?

Having visited yesterday, with my family - 3 of us in total - (17th March 2010) and ticked the boxes for the food we wanted - we were informed that there were not enough boxes ticked for us to have the table. We were told that we had to spend a minimum of £10.00 per head - but we did not want a full meal, just a selection of Dim Sum.

We offered to pay for our drinks which had arrived, but were told that there would be no charge as the drinks were removed, before we could blink.

Customer Service was unbelievable - I would NOT recommend going for lunch or any other visit after the way we were treated.

If this is the image being given to overseas visitors it does not bode well!

Good little Chinese, but i find it quite hard to find an outstanding Chinese restaurant these days. They all cook the same old stuff and it is normally pumped with MSG. More of a sushi man myself.

Went there 3 times, because the food was quite good. The service was average the first time, bad the second and appalling the third.

When the bill was dropped in front of us just after dinner, after ordering coffee, it was then taken away and represented on all 3 occasions - no chance to order desert!

And it was not that busy - we usually eat out between 10 and 11 pm on a Saturday.By the 3rd time of this happening, I queried the bill (prices not itemised).

There was a SERVICE CHARGE!! I asked for this to be taken off, as I will not pay for something I did not get.

I would suggest you do the same - if enough people do the same, they might get the message! It's a shame that customers are NOT appreciated here.
