Everything about the meal I had at Gordon Ramsay at Claridges was utterly fantastic. Even though I only made a reservation the day before I needed the table, because there were only two of us they said they would squeeze us in - in fact, we had a super table for two right by the window and quite private, which I was thrilled with. The service was friendly and efficient, with no hint of the snooty attitude you sometimes get with very expensive, exclusive restaurants, and the Sommelier was knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant. When ordering our food, the waiter made suggestions and recommendations and the dish we finally chose - Beef Wellington to share - was absolutely superb, the best I've ever eaten.
All in all, this was a delightful and thoroughly enjoyable dining experience and I would recommend anyone to just pay that little bit extra if they can - it's well worth it.
This is my No. 1 restaurant in London so far, from price-wise, amazing-experience-wise, friendliness, etc. Etc. You name it. Just fantastic. Seriously. My husband and I had amazing experience at Claridges. We went there for special occasion and they generously gave us the special seats on window side. The waiters were all entertaining us to make the every moment special in the restaurant and it was as if we were in the dream. £30 course menu for lunch is quite a deal too. We had 2 bottles of champaign that were amazing taste. Not only us but also our guests were happy for the entire experience and they decided that they will book the table next time to invite us. Not only the experience in the restaurant was great but also the lady, Angella, who is in charge of the booking over the phone, was amazing. To make our cerebration lunch perfect, I made inquiries several times to her and she was always cheerful and helpful. I even felt bad to call her many times but she had never made me feel guilty talking to her many times and she always gave me good suggestions. I cannot praise Gordon Ramsay at Claridges more. It is just a perfect, dream-like place. We will definitely never forget our time there forever. . And I am not at all exaggerating. Please take my comment as face value.
Fantastic, and as our trip to this fine establishment on Sunday proved, does not have to be astronomically expensive either.
We dined on the £30 menu fo a special occasion, and my tastebuds thought they were in heaven.
I was particularly impressed by the amuse bouche provided compliments of the chef, delicious (while desperately trying not to spill it anywhere with their tiny silver spoon...!).
I've never eaten such perfectly braised chicken in all my life. The cheese board is fun to choose from too. Everyone should save up and go on a special day - you won't be disappointed.
When you book a few months in advance there is always the danger that expectation will be a lot more enjoyable than the event.
This was not the case at Ramsays. Yes it was expensive and definitely for treat days but the food was superb, the service excellent and the overally experience well worth waiting for.
We chose from the A la carte menu our three courses followed by the coffee and handmade chocolates.
We were suprised by some of the additional dishes arriving "compliments of the chef" and also happy to be left to enjoy our evening at a very leisurely place.
If you have a special ocassion or someone you would like to lavish a treat on then this seems a good place to go.
We went to the restaurant on Saturday 25th Oct for my 50th birthday. My wife and kids arranged it. We were booked on the first sitting and as the first large party to arrive we were offered the Chef’s table at no extra cost, as it had not been booked by anyone. From the minute we took up the offer we were made to feel very special, to the point where I’m sure a number of the other diners looking at us were wondering who we were. We had our own personal waitress who looked after us for the full 4 hours we were in the restaurant. We met the staff and had a tour of the kitchen. The pace of the meal was just right we had every chance to soak up the atmosphere, the food was delicious, there was so much to try and so many different flavours. As a chocoholic I expected the cold Valrhona chocolate fondant with glazed peaches to be a real treat and it was, but I thought the taste of the day was the verbena cream in the raspberry compote. Our meal wasn’t cheap, but then we never expected it to be, however the service we received was beyond anything we could have expected and made our special day one we will always remember.
My wife and I had a fantastic time last Saturday evening. The food on the menu looked great and tasted even better than expected as the empty plates showed. Agreed, it is quite an expensive restaurant, but as a special occasion this is a great place to go and worth every penny. A nice touch to be shown around the kitchen and see the engine room of the restaraunt with the kitchen staff and maitre d' taking time to speak to you unhurried to explain how they prepared/cooked certain dishes we were interested in. It is not a pretencious restaurant like others we have been to and we will definatley be going again. If I can critisice, then it would be the time it took to get a reservation, but that must be a good thing really as it shows how many people want to go. If you are planning to go to Claridges make sure you book well in advance.
My wife and I had a dinner on 23rd Dec 2007 for her birthday in Gordon Ramsay in Claridges. The soup was salty, my wife complained without finishing it. the bread was tasteless. The lobster and salmon ravioli had a pungent fishy smell, it was not fresh and my wife left the dining table and vomited in the toilet afterward. Only pressed (pate-like) foie gras on menu, for a whole decent foie gras needed to pay extra what a con. when my wife returned, we tried the main course venison and lamb, both served with the same extremely salty watercress which killed the tasted. 2 different meats dish served with the same watercress, we felt cheated, again we could not finished the main course. the caramelised tart was burnt. we had only one bit and left it. No birthday cake was offer but a candle on a plate - cheap gesture. Left table with a £240 bill without eating much. The waiter offered us a take away desert - what a stupid offer from this restaurant. Absolutely disguised with the meal. the Michelin-star rating is misleading. two years ago I had the same experience with Gordon Ramsay in Savoy Grill (again my wife's birthday). we chose the tasting menu but it was horrible and salty, we did not finished the meal either. We thought it was one off bad experience in Savoy Grill but it was not. Incognico in west end, was ten times better and served mouth watering foie gras not pate without extra cost.
Old news. Food average, service average.
