General Price Guide: Expensive.

Location and Punters:
At this top league Chelsea restaurant, Gordon Ramsay, one of London’s most talented chefs, orchestrates the whole operation with flair and dexterity. Cuisine apart, punters are attracted by Ramsay’s unwavering talent and reputation alone. The nearest tube station is Sloane Square.

Atmosphere and Décor:
The small but elegant dining room has an ambience of discreet sophistication. A plum coloured carpet and paler hues of aubergine paintwork blend pleasantly with the beige coloured suede seating. Interesting glass sculptures, however, tend to dominate the décor. Charming head of house, Frenchman, Jean-Claude Breton ensures that the welcome and service you receive at Gordon Ramsay is faultless, friendly and attentive.

Nosh and Drinks:
Gordon Ramsay offers some of the most exquisite and accomplished classic French cooking in London. Seasonal dishes balance the flavours of quality ingredients to perfection. There is always a delightful array of amuses bouches to enhance (if that is possible!) the whole gourmet experience.

Starters might include Ham Knuckle, Foie Gras and Cabbage with Pea Fèves Vinaigrette, Tortellini with Lobster and Langoustine in a Shellfish Bisque, or Salad of Crispy Pig’s Trotter and Calves’ Sweetbreads. Main courses range from Poached Supreme of Black Legged Chicken with Truffles, Roast Leg of Milk-fed Pyrénées Lamb served on a Blanquette of Vegetables with Thyme Sauce, to fish options, such as Salad of Red Mullet with Aubergine Caviar and Sauce Vierge.

The signature dish of Crème Brûlée with Jus of Granny Smith or the Fresh Blood Orange set in its own Jelly with an Orange Flower Ice Cream are both examples of simply divine desserts. So, indeed are the other, patisserie-oriented puddings! A set three-course lunch is relatively good value at around £28.

The predominantly French wine list is predictably expensive but, after all, browsing the lengthy list of Grands Crus options, is a pleasure in itself. You can always settle for the house wine at approximately £18 per bottle.

The Experience:
Gordon Ramsay offers a cocoon of pure indulgence. The memory lingers.
