four of us went out for a meal was a fantastic restaurant with a very good atmosphere food was up to great standards very delicious also in addition to this there was a great variety on the menu rather than just the odd burger and chips. would recommend for couples or a small family to go does not look kid friendly to be fair .

lastly the only downfall the place has is the staff are too quick to take your plates for example i had a starter and took a little break and before i knew it the waitress took my plate before finishing and not asking, other than this its a great place to dine.

Guanabana is Fantastic !!! My husband and I eat here at least once a month. The restaurant is really relaxed and has a lovely south american vibe. The menu covers dishes from mexico, latina america and the caribbean. The prawn crevettes and the jerk chicken are favourites but the whole menu is really good. The staff are really friendly and the BYO gives you the option to bring a really nice bottle of wine. In the summer they have a lovely bamboo garden. I cant praise Guanabana enough its a super affordable friendly neighbourhood restaurant. A little piece of heaven in the middle of Kentish Town !!!

After previous good visits this one was appalling - incredibly rude staff and mediocre food.

Firstly, our main was delivered before we had finished our starters and had to be sent back. When we asked for a small break in between courses we were told they were rushing because of another sitting despite there being over an hour and a half of our allotted time left. When the mains were re delivered they had simply been reheated (badly).

As we were finishing our mains another group arrived for whom there wasn't enough space at the neighbouring table. The waiter then leaned over our table and told them not to worry as we'd be finished in ten minutes and they could have our table. Needless to say we've never encountered such rude staff and made a complaint.

On top of this the food was very very average. One to avoid.

17 of us aged from 11 to 70+ went to Guanabana last Thursday night. We had the party/set menu which includes jugs of delicious mocktails, shared starters and a range of mains. Despite 3 of our party arriving 40 mains late the staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. The range of shared starters was delicious and more importantly everything was freshly cooked. They managed to serve us all mains at the same time which was some feat! The complimentary desserts in addition to those ordered was a lovely touch. For the price I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough! The staff really made our night so thanks to all.

went to Guanabana 2 days ago...having read the reviews thought why not..since i wanted a change from the same old kebab and curry. Cant understand peoples taste of good food...i dont think people have a clue what good food tastes like. My friends and i ordered the messy mexican burgers with chips and for drinks we got mojitos and the guanabana berry mocktail. Firstly when the waitress brought us our burgers they didnt have any of the sauces or toppings advertised on the menu and it was just a plain burger in a bun, so we we called her back. The waitress apologises..takes our plates and 2 mins later returns with a slosh of some red sauce that looked like ketchup, and jalapanos now added on top. secondly we had asked for our burgers to be "well done" but on biting into them could still see the burgers were half pink inside. What should we have said to get them well done "um can we have our burgers burnt please?" I mean seriously whats medium-rare for them? raw from the packet. Last time i had a raw burger like that i had major diarrhea...so im lookin forward to hurricane irene coming out my ass tmrw morning. The only decent thing about the whole experience was the service and the mocktails. Truly this place was not worth the money...I'd rather have gone to Mcdonalds.

Hands down one of the best restaurants in London for hosting a party. I had a party of 21 people in for my birthday and we had an excellent time. The tapas style of starters was great, the mocktails were delicious and the mains were an absolute treat. The staff were incredibly helpful and lovely. The Bring Your Own alcohol arrangement makes for a very affordable night out as well. All in all the perfect venue for a birthday dinner. I can't wait for my next visit back to Guanabana!

So many mixed reviews!! I’m not really sure if this place is staffed differently at different times but I can say that the food was atrocious. The service was so so. I will never go back and certainly would not recommend it to friends. The restaurant was niceish.

I would like to chime in with your honest review really it was atrocious, discourteous and unreasonable priced restaurant! I wouldnt even consider it one star. I am being honest. Service was appalling. I ordered chicken burger and they get me lamb burger and when i spotted it was lamb and complained they were compelled to the truth that the chicken was not available at that time!

Had my party here last weekend. And boy was it busy! There was 30 of us and I can honestly say this is one of the coolest places I've been to in a while. Great find, excellent food. And the staff were super helpful & friendly. Only gripe was that shishas were in short supply so had to wait a while will after out meal.

Came here for a birthday dinner, food was not great, fish came surrounded with a watery salsa. Partner did not enjoy jerk chicken salad. Also service very slow. Would not recommend or return.

Great food... shocking service!
Have been to Guanabana on a number of occasions, and can say that if you go in small numbers of two or three everything is fantastic. food arrives on time, staff are attentive and friendly, everything's great.
Go in any larger, particularly at busy times and BOY are you in for a different treat!
Table for 8.30pm? Expect to be eating at around 10.45! Ohh, and you'll be the one running around trying to get your food ordered and delivered to the table. Staff are more likely to be chatting at the bar, or amidst mass confusion as to what's going on.
Expect your meals to come at half an hour intervals if at all, and good luck if you try voicing your concerns to the manager. Instead of sympathy and an apology whilst trying to fix the problem, you're more likely to get a shouting match matched with ignorance and hostility.
We eventually had to argue the bill (which was still wrong, and included a number of items we never received) and ended up leaving what we thought it was worth.
A real shame as the food is fantastic. The staff's attitude and management skills however have cost the business a few very loyal customers

What a find!! We were a party of 10 and all of us were absolutely impressed with the food and service especially for such a reasonably price. The curried lamb and rice and peas was beautifully done - as Jamaicans we were quite impressed. Highly recommended and the next time we are in the area, we will be definitely going back.

i dont usually write reviews but reading what i just read below has compelled to spread the word of Guanabana.

Guanabana Restaurant is one of those places you rarely find, but once you do you want to tell everyone you know.

the food is just great!! perfectly balanced menu of Caribbean and south American food.

cocktails even though are non - alcoholic are the best I've had in a long time. Great daiquiris! which by the way when adding my own rum! works perfectly..

Yes i said it, My own rum! you can bring your own booze and that suited me just fine. there is a corking charge.. i think it was a couple of quid.

music just killed it!! and i must say some of those tunes brought me back.

all in all a very successful night if i say so myself, which i partly was to blame given that it led to a very successful morning ;)

waiving the flag for Guanabana Restaurant my new favorite everything.

Decided on this place to go somewhere a little different with my family.

Absolutely shocking service, dirty table no cutlery or napkins even though starters had arrived. Main courses arrived while stater plates had not been cleared.

Given water glasses and told there were not wine glasses...... the list goes on. Good food shocking service.

In the end the manager told us to pay what we wanted to pay because we were treated so appallingly.

I love this place! Have been here on several occasions. The food being good is one thing but the ambiance is what i love the most. It you're sitting outside in summer it's a wonderful experience.

The selection of quirky decor (that just seems to fit), the friendly staff, who are happy to help even though some are new to their trade, and the smooth music that seems to blend into the surroundings and mood is very calming.

The food selection is great. I've had:The Flying Adobo - Very sweet and sticky chicken wings. They give three wings in a bowl.

Plantation - taste like fried bananasPlate of Nachos - pretty decent (not much could go wrong with this really) Ribs - These were delicious, again sticky and sweet but lovely and falling off the boneSirloin Steak - This was decent too i had it medium.

Big Bajan Burger - This was a big slab of meat that was wonderfully marinaded with herbs and spices that made the meat taste different yet tasty. There were onion rings with it also. Curry Goat - This was served with rice and peas ('peas' meaning red beans NOT green peas).

The meat was good although there was a couple pieces with a bit of fat in it although the curry in which it was made was a rich spicy curry that the meat had fused with. Saltfish and Ackie - This is delicious especially if you like spicy fish.

I have eaten more here but can't remember off the top of my head. The manager has done a great job here this is my favourite place to eat at the moment...it probably will be for some time too. If for nothing then to chill out in the garden with a Shisha.

Great place, great food and pleasant atmosphere. The decor is quirky and the staff are very friendly.

The food took a while to arrive but the waitress did apologize on several occasions and there was a large party at the other end.

With regards to the food, the jerk chicken was sumptuous and the ackee and salt-fish was rich in flavor.

I would definitely recommend this place to everyone - on this note I must add that I am a novice to Caribbean cuisine but the food was tasty nevertheless.

Go see for yourselves.

Great place, good atmosphere, quirky interior and a friendly, welcoming front of house.

The food took a while but the lovely waitress lady did apologize on several occasions and there was a large table celebrating a birthday.

However, the food was great and we all had different dishes so my basis of comparison is pretty broad - nothing was disappointing.

The ackee and salt-fish was rich in flavor, the jerk chicken hit the right spot and the curry goat was well prepared with right blend of spices.

All in all, a very enjoyable eatery!!! Definitely recommend.

what a lovely place. its truly like sitting in someones home.. that i would love to live in. the music is a great mix of latin tracks and reggae with a touch of omar and sade. the mains came a tad longer than wished but it was very busy and our delicious starters of calimari( which was the best i had) and stuffed jalapenoes kept the hunger at bay. as a main i had the snapper where my boyfriend had the curry goat with feta mash and hand cut sweet potato chips. all of it went down a treat!might i add that the service was busy but very attentive without getting annoying. in fact they were very charming to the point where i left a very large tip on top of the standard service charge. one of the best restaurant ive been to in a very long time.i forgot to mention that you can bring your own wine and beer. what can get better than that!!?

Beware! We decided to try this restaurant after it being listed in a magazine's top 50..Unfortunately it was a massive disappointment:The service was slow, food arrived at different time and was lukewarm. The Jerk Chicken had a sauce which was clearly out of a bottle, same goes to the green salad which came out of a bag with a Tesco-like ready made dressing. The rice and peas was the only dish which tasted home made. Avoid!
