We have been coming here for over 15 years and amazingly has not changed a bit - for the good that is.
The food is simply delicious and suggest trying the Souvla, Kleftiko, Sea Bass and as many starters as you can eat! Hummus, being a rather simple dish, is made fresh and tastes nothing like you get at these so called Greek/Cypriot restaurants and really tell you about the quality you can expect for the main course.
For drinks the Boutari White wine is great and compliments the dishes well.
The atmosphere here is small, cosy and purposely has not changed for decades. Standing testament that if a restaurant is constructed well and designed to be unique from the start, it'll last a lifetime.

I read comments of the owner being rude and loud, yes he is loud but not to the extent of being considered rude. The staff are well trained and enjoy a good chat occasionally with the customers. It adds to the whole informal, relaxed nature of the restaurant. Customers are expected to have fun and talk loudly, which is why the staff need to talk loudly as well. The manager there is warm and too likes to crack a joke now and then.
The prices are slightly dear but nothing out of the ordinary for central London.

You pay for what you get, which in this case is great food and an unforgettable dining experience. Strongly recommend!

Absolutely awful experience. Avoid.

Food was average, service was (not Cypriot or Greek), rushed (as below review-they were in a hurry for you to leave and bring the bill to get you out), however what is unacceptable is the attitude of the owner of this place.
He is so rude and incredibly disrespectful of his customers. I asked what was on my (illegible) bill and there was a high service charge and a cover charge. Cover charge was dissapointing as I hadnt been told but fine as we had eaten the olives.
I do not agree with service charges. At best they dont encourage good service as you dont have the choice to vary the tip to reward good service, at worst it usually goes to the owner, not to the actual waiters/resses.
As usual I requested for the service charge to be removed (remember it was not legible or labelled as such) saying I would prefer to leave a cash tip. I have done in all restaurants inc. the Ritz and Dorchester without any bother. The owner refused, shouted at us in front of the entire restaurant and kept proding my arm. He said it was illegal and refused to bring a new bill. He threatened to call the police but did not.
After waiting for 30mins and getting more of his bullying, slamming his fists, shouting and prodding, I threatened to leave wihout paying he agreed to remove the service charge. After that I didnt want to leave a tip.

My advice-avoid this restaurant. Customer service is everything and the owner is awful. As the below reviewers say he could do with the lesson.
IF you do go to this restaurant please do ask (politely) for the service charge to be removed and leave a cash tip. The owner has to realise that service charges are not mandatory and the more people who ask the more likely he is to realise this.

There is MUCH better food at cypriot restaurants in Barnet (Blueberries), Camden (Lemonia) and round the corner in W2 on Hereford Rd (Aphrodite Tavern). Dont waste your evening and defintely dont bring guests here

Where coming to that area of London for a weekend, where would you suggest?
We are a party of 15, so it would have to be able to accomodate us.

We had two dinners at Halepi Restaurant on Leinster Terrace last week, out of three days in London. They were superb. Whenever we are in London, we always have at least one meal at Halepi Restaurant. The Klefticon is out of this world, and their Moussaka is delicious.

The portions at Halepi Restaurant are generous and more importantly the taste is there. While not cheap, they always provide value for money. They are better than most restaurants in Greece. I only wish that they would open some restaurants in Canada!

Halepi Restaurant is an OK Greek place. Food is what you'd expect, but nowt special, and it wasn't cheap either. Unfortunately, I don't know a good Greek place other than Halepi Restaurant to recommend instead. Sorry.

Halepi is absolutely one of the best restaurants I've ever been to, if not the best! Truly authentic and truly Greek. The steaks are exquisite and the seafood is delicious. Not only does Halepi Restaurant offer the best food but the service and atmosphere were warm hearted and cosy. Sure it's a bit small but it just adds to the atmosphere. I've been there three times and the owner was there twice. He came by the table several times to make sure everything was ok. He even served us part of our meal! The price is on the high side but you definately get what you pay for. Halepi Restaurant is a must if you live in London.

Halepi was an absolute disappointment. Don't bother to go there. There are thousands of places in London. Why bother and go to a bad one?

The owner brought us the bill without us having asked for it, 1:30 hours after we got there. It seems some guys where waiting for our table, which we had booked in advance. Nothing had been mentioned at the time of booking for time limitations.
If they had done so, we'd have turned them down.

The owner asked us to leave. It was absolutely offensive. We had invited friends for dinner and we felt absolutely disgraced.

They simply don't value their customers. It was our last time there. We really hope you will avoid this place. They deserve a lesson.
