The Hanoi Café is an attractively simple little Vietnamese restaurant in Kingsland Road, not far from then northerly corner of the Shoreditch Triangle.

The menu is fantastic, with a wide variety of tasty sounding authentic dishes. Their noodle soups are a particular speciality – with van than mi (Vietnamese wonton noodle soup) at £4.90 and mien ga (chicken glass noodle soup) at £4.60 particularly popular.

Mains are all around the £5 mark, with delights such as wine and ginger chicken cooked in a clay pot, squid stuffed with spicy pork, and salt and chilli soft-shell crab. If you’re in a rush, why not try one of the “sidewalk dishes”, which are designed as a single course quick meal. Vietnamese roast duck (£7.50) and spicy lime fish steak (£6.95) both sounds delicious!

Hanoi Café has a devoted following, and should be high on your list of “must visit” restaurants if you love oriental food.
