Had dinner this evening, food was lovely, service was great, but the mice dancing on the floor in front of or table very off putting. I think a phone call to the EHO tomorrow. Well worth the cost if you would like to see the local wildlife
We were welcomed into the brasserie in the first place. That is the positive aspect to our visit.
We asked what a "tartelette" meant. The waitress didn't speak English well, and we were told it was a tart - it wasn't, it was a crostini, not the same.
At the end of the evening we were going to be overcharged - the bill showed separate charges for a side dish inlcuded in the price for the dis on the menu.
We were also misled about the wine - we pointed to rose house wine prominently displayed at the top of the menu and were brought a bottle rather than the 500ml that the price we had pointed at represented - so we were charged £16 rathr than £11. The prices per bottle are displayed far less obviously at the foot of the menu.
The manager could have redeemed the situation but was so unpleasant that we shall never visit there again.
This is a remarkably successful and popular bistro that has brought trendiness to Chiswick. The menu plays safe with an appealing choice of dishes - the Gressingham duck is my favourite dish here. Service is generally good and it has a very nice feel to the place, which is usually full of the local media luvvies who live in this area.
Do you know that tuna should only be eaten rare? Additionally, lemon in a spritzer is essential for that refreshing citrus aspect - you've already spoiled the wine by adding soda! That was your choice. The High Road Brasserie bartender was only trying to make it pleasant for you.
Obviously this is all too advanced for you. High Road Brasserie is another winning fomula from a winning group. Keep it up guys!
We had the pleasure of eating at The High Road Brasserie last night. We had great food, with hot plates - why so many restaurants get this wrong I don't know. We had effecient and attentive service from Stan, and all round it was a very pleasing experience. Ask for the wine list from the club as it has a much better selection.
I will be back for more from High Road Brasserie.
I love High Road Brasserie. I've been three times and each time we had good service. They moved our table when I wasn't happy where we were sat, and the waitress at the door was charming and helped me escape an over-enthusiatic admirer, by putting us on a table he definitely couldn't join.
The cocktails and wine list are fab, the seafood platter was huge and tasty, and the decor is relaxed, stylish and informal. Chiswick just got better because of High Road Brasserie.
I went to the High Road Brasserie on the Bank Holiday in August and had the most fanastic meal. My partner and I both had the sirlon steak and it was just cooked to perfection. The presentation was also magnificent. We both had summer pudding for dessert which was just out of this world.
I appreciate that High Road Brasserie was busy, but that is what it is all about. The atmosphere and decor was just magic and I can not wait to go again!
I went to High Road Brasserie with a friend for Saturday lunch and was frankly insulted. Reservations were in the supermanicured hands of a very attractive girl who couldn't speak English, didn't have our table ready for an hour, told us to wait at the bar where we were just about kippered in cigarette smoke and generally treated us like dirt.
The so-called Poole prawns at High Road Brasserie had clearly only just been defrosted and tasted as if their only contact with Dorset was being airfreighted over it. The tuna in my salade nicoise was half raw, and even our innocuous white wine spritzers were ponced up with lemon slices - not a good look. As people who eat uptown at Soho House quite often, we felt that the management of this place was patronising a clientele it regards as suburban, ignorant and style-free.
We visited the High Road Brasserie last Sunday and had a wonderful time. The choice on the menu gave us quite some difficultly. The brunch menu was very tempting but we settled for lunch. My husband had the tuna carpaccio which was wonderfully fresh and a seafood platter which although billed as small was generous.
The pea rissotto was fresh and creamy and the nicoise was lovely. Both washed down with glasses of Sancerre and Rose. We are very pleased with this new addition to the High Road which offers more variety to our eateries. Plus we had a pram in tow which they accommodated without a complaint and worked happily around - so High Road Brasserie was a positive experience all round.
Myself and two friends went to High Road Brasserie last night for a simple meal. We were just strolling down the High Road and came across the High Road Brasserie. It was early evening so we managed to get a table.
We ordered our food and were simply blown away - it took us a good 20 minutes to choose from the massive menu. The fish soup was so tasty and the goose parfait just melted in your mouth on the warm brioche.
The main courses were equally good - black pig chop was amazing, and the smoked haddock superb.
I went for lunch at High Road Brasserie last week. The cocktails were lovely but the service remarkably poor. The manager seemed to be totally uninterested in any complaints and disappeared when I asked to speak to him.
There are better places for lunch in Chiswick at the moment than High Road Brasserie. Let's see how this place progresses.
High Road Brasserie is a gastropub rather then a gastronomic delight. The service was resonable apart from some language difficulties, with the suspicious keep-pouring-method designed to encourage further drink orders.
Main course duck was awful. Smoked haddock portion stingy in the extreme with poorly executed railway sleeper chips. The House wine overpricing was disguised by 500ml serving.
Overall I was not impressed, but perhaps once it has bedded in it will improve. High Road Brasserie has plenty of local competition which can't be a bad thing.
Isn't the idea of a Brasserie that it is all things to all men? I like the concept of the High Road Brasserie being a place where I can go for a beer with friends, dinner with my girlfriend or breakfast on my own.
I visited the High Road Brasserie recently and was very impressed. They were having a few teething problems, but on the whole it was a fantastic experience. Thank god they didn't do another Electric!
High Road Brasserie has great decor and atmosphere although it is let down by poor service and distinctly average food. It appears this latest outlet is not sure what market it is attempting to lure - is High Road Brasserie an alternative to the local pub for a pint or an upmarket hangout for monied professionals.
The food was fantastic at High Road Brasserie. The service was lovely and I have been three times now and each time I have been very very impressed. High Road Brasserie is highly recommended.
The kippers at High Road Brasserie are particularly good. I recommend going for Saturday brunch and reading the papers with your food. Most delectable is High Road Brasserie.
