Great for live music, not for mussels. Then again, I might ask for a packet of crisps and mussels next time I go.
Unbelievable live scene. Punk-rock and all sorts of bands. Decent beer, too.

Had Saturday lunch here on the weekend. It really has gone downhill since it opened. Food was very very average. Disappointing.

Entrees were passable but forgettable.
Wolf fish and (dried out/chewy) mussels main course had a crab sauce (swimming in a puddle of watery substance) which I can only compare to dirty dish water (and I think that would have tasted better). Slices of pork with a cream Tonnato sauce was a bit odd and not very pleasant. The cream sauce was killing the taste of (what was possibly) tasty pork. After dinner coffee was burnt.

On a positive note, the desert of chocolate cake and peach cake were fabulous. Beer and wine was affordable and good.

Umm, maybe you should pay closer attention love, this is clearly not the right Hope and Anchor you numpty! This is rock and roll - I've been going here for years and they do NOT serve mussels - LOL! It's not a nancy boy place but a proper rock venue - maybe next time you should read the venue information a little more carefully!!!!!!!! - Report

The Hope and Anchor is the best pub - great juke box, lovely food. I have to reply to Keith's review which I feel is very unfair. I drink in here week in and week out and the bar staff are brillant; they are friendly and chatty. The Management are lovely too, the only reason they do not serve people are if they are too drunk or their behaviour is out of order? I think that's a fine way to run a pub:)

The doorman are wonderful and very good at their jobs. People come to the Hope and Anchor to listen to the live music and have a great time.

Living in Ladbroke Grove I have met my fair share of rude barman but Hope and Anchor takes the biscuit. All the staff are are doing you a big favour by deigning to serve you at some point of the evening. The Hope and Anchor managers are the worst of them. Thoroughly miserable experience.

Awesome indie scene at the Hope and Anchor. Best duke-box selection I've seen in a long time. Bar staff and doormen were really friendly. Only downsides at the Hope and Anchor are that the "club" area downstairs is quite small, but the djs plays some pretty decent tracks, and there's not enough seats.
Other than that the Hope and Anchor is a top place and will become a regular for me.

This is a great pub with plenty of atmosphere and the venue for many fine new bands. If you like your music hot sweaty and in your face, this is the place for you. Get down to The Hope and Anchor and see what you've been missing out on!
