I love Hot Stuff! The food is delicious, my favourites being the chili paneer and the mixed bhajis. They're unlike anything you'll find anywhere else. Raj is lovely and has been personally taking it upon himself to broaden my curry horizons over the years I've been visiting (since the days when all I knew was a chicken jalfrezi!), and I recommend listening to his advice! The only downside is that it's so popular! I'm even wondering if I should've written this review as it might be even harder to get a table at short notice now.
Went here on 3 Dec following an Internet search whilst working in London. It's small, 25 seats, but very personal. Raj the owner makes you feel very welcome as do the staff. It's pleasing to be able to see all that happens in the kitchen which does instill confidence. Let the staff advise you on food and get your booze next door. Highly highly recommended ..... Well worth hunting this gem out.
I regularly order food from Hot Stuff because their curries are some of the best in London.
My family and I adore curry and it wasn't until we moved to Vauxhall that we discovered this haven.
Saying that, I would happily travel halfway across London for their food. They are relatively inexpensive, delicious, fresh and always piping hot, I also love their understatedness.
It's like the curry speaks for itself, no pretentious faff here. I would reccomend calling up with your order and then collecting at the pre arranged time (there are parking bays directly oposite) and just for a little trivia..
Hot Stuff is situated on the same road that 'My Beautiful Launderette' (1985, Frears) was filmed!
If you plan on eating in either book ahead or go during the day. During the evenings it is packed and gets very noisy.
The staff are helpful and will try and accomodate any order, sometimes they seem a little rushed-but they are very busy.
The only complaint I have is that they are not open on Sundays. If you are making an order get a naan to go with it.
They are freshly made on the spot and are a scrumptious accompanient.
The food at Hot Stuff was alright and I suppose inexpensive, but I would not recommend going to Hot Stuff. We found the staff incredibly rude and patronising.
There I was last Tuesday night when my girlfriend said, “Hey Dave, you fancy some Hot Stuff?” “Crikey”, I thought – I’m in here, but she’d just booked a table at Hot Stuff the restaurant and my todger didn’t even get a look-in.
Hot Stuff is a hidden gem of a place tucked down the kind of road you only go down when lost. Very friendly staff welcome you into a little restaurant that feels like a part of their home. Don't bother with the menu (though it is great), just name your price and let them choose from their home made specials; I've never been less than very impressed!
