For quality food and friendly service, head to Hudsons, who’ll deliver the kind of dining experience that is exceptional in more ways than one.

The Venue
Hudsons is within easy reach of Putney station, and is situated on the main road, with tables outside as well as inside. The interior of the restaurant stretches back further than you would first think and the space is cosy and contemporary. It is a relatively no-frills restaurant with simple decor and wooden tables and chairs, but the atmosphere is extremely inviting.

The Atmosphere
Hudsons is ideal for intimate dinners or small work functions. Colours are neutral and lighting is perfect, dimmed nicely for relaxing evening meals. The chilled out sound of old reggae love songs play in the background, creating a warm ambience.

The Food
The chicken in coconut sauce with sweet mashed potato is a winner for a main course. The potato is smooth and creamy and the chicken is cooked with herbs and garlic that complement the dish beautifully. There is also a good balance of red meat and seafood dishes on the menu. Prices start at around £20.00 a head, but the portions are ample and with the high quality of the food, it is well worth the price. The dessert menu is varied but standard. Chocolate fudge cakes and lemon cheesecakes were the usual suspects but the banoffee pie is a special treat, being both creamy and particularly saccharine with a crumbly biscuit base, guaranteed to satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth.

The Drink
There is a respectable wine list to choose from. The house red is the Le Sanglier De La Montagne which is a French wine, soft in texture and light, with a crispness that sets off the many seafood dishes on offer. Also recommended are the coffee liquors that are served in long glasses topped with double cream. The amaretto coffee has a luxuriously sweet almond taste on the palate.

The Last Word
Here is a restaurant that is so welcoming, friendly and satisfying that it is difficult to leave, but it is refreshing to discover an eatery that you will be happy to return to time and time again.
